EEC Ground Test for Channel A of the Engine Control System Actuators

(1) Do these steps to prepare for the test of the EEC channel A:
(a) Push the NEXT PAGE key until you find <EEC 1A (2A,3A, or 4A) ACTUATORS.
NOTE: If INHIBITED shows above <EEC 1A (2A,3A , or 4A)

If INHIBITED shows above <EEC 1A (2A,3A, or 4A) ACTUATORS: 1) Push the LSK that is adjacent to the test prompt. 2) Do the steps shown on the CDU. 3) Push the LSK that is adjacent to <RETURN to show the ground
test menu again.
(c)
If it is not done, set the thrust lever on the pilot's aisle stand at mid power until the TRA value on the EPCS page is between 40 to 60 degrees.
WARNING:_______USE AMM 71-00-00/201 TO OPERATE THE POWER PLANT. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS PROCEDURE, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT OR INJURY TO PERSONS.
(d)
If a fuel line was opened, do the Power Plant wet-motor procedure to motor the engine (AMM 71-00-00/201).
NOTE: This will remove air from the engine fuel lines before
____ you do the test. This will make sure the actuators operate correctly and will prevent fault messages that are not necessary.
(e) If it is not done, use the Power Plant Dry-Motor procedure to motor the engine (AMM 71-00-00/201).

(2) When the engine speed motors between 21% and 32% N2, push the LSK that is adjacent to the applicable prompt {<EEC 1A (2A,3A, and 4A) ACTUATORS}.
(a) Push the LSK that is adjacent to START TEST>.
NOTE: IN PROGRESS shows during the test.

(b)
Let the engine continue to motor and make sure the IN PROGRESS message stays on the ground test screen.
(c)
You can monitor the changes in the valve position for the SVA, BVA, TCC and AOC on the EPCS page.
(d)
If you wish to stop the test while it continues, do one of the two steps that follow: 1) Pull the thrust lever rearward to make the TRA less than 40
degrees. 2) Push the START switch to the OFF position.

(3) When IN PROGRESS goes off, look for PASS or FAIL> adjacent to <EEC 1A, (2A,3A, or 4A) ACTUATORS.
NOTE: If a PASS indication shows, no failures occurred during the

(a) If FAIL> shows, do the steps that follow: 1) Use the Power Plant Dry-Motor procedure to do the engine shutdown (AMM 71-00-00/201).
2) Push the LSK that is adjacent to FAIL> to see the GROUND TEST MSG pages for the failure.
NOTE: This will show the fault(s) that caused the failure
____ or what caused the test to stop. The CMCS messages in the list below will cause the FAIL> indication.
