CAUTION: DO NOT OPERATE THE ENGINE WITH THE COWLING OPEN IF WINDS ARE
_______ MORE THAN 20 KNOTS. THE HIGH SPEED WINDS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(18) If you will operate the engine with the cowling open, do the steps that follow:
(a) Open the fan cowl panels (AMM 71-11-04/201).

THE OPERATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER. THE ACCIDENTAL
OPERATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO
PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(b)
Do this procedure: Thrust Reverser Deactivation for Ground
Maintenance (AMM 78-31-00/201).
(c)
Remove the core cowl panels (AMM 71-11-06/401).
WARNING: OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS IN AMM 78-31-00 WHEN YOU OPEN THE

THRUST REVERSERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS,
INJURIES TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(d)
Open the thrust reversers (AMM 78-31-00/201).
(e)
Install the hold-open equipment for the thrust reverser on each opening actuator for the thrust reverser as follows (Fig. 207): 1) Put the actuator lock on the actuator rod. 2) Make sure the lock yoke is against the bolt that attaches
the actuator rod. 3) Make sure the lock channel is against the actuator
cylinder. 4) Put the channel clamp around the actuator rod. 5) Tighten the knurled-head screw to attach the channel clamp
to the actuator rod.
6) Let the opening actuator close a small distance to remove the load from the opening actuator. a) This will move the load from the opening actuator to
the actuator lock.

(20) Make sure you have the conditions that follow:

The forward thrust lever is at idle.
(b)
The reverse thrust lever is in the off (stowed) position.
