(b)
N2 - 2.5 units (1.25 inches/second)

 (c)
BB - 3.0 units (1.8 inches/second)

 (2)
You must examine the sudden changes of 1.0 unit or more which occur.

Oil Consumption Limits

 S 862-053-N00
 (1)
The maximum oil consumption for an engine in operation is 0.5 U.S. quart (0.47 liter) in one hour. If the oil consumption suddenly or continuously increases, you must examine the oil system (FIM 79-00-00/101).

 L.
Precautionary Procedures

 S 862-054-N00
CAUTION: DO NOT MOVE THE THRUST LEVER FORWARD ON AN ENGINE THAT HAS A
_______ SURGE (STALL). YOU MUST ALWAYS MOVE THE THRUST LEVER REARWARD. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU DO THE "START PROCEDURE AFTER AN EMERGENCY ENGINE
_______ SHUTDOWN". IF YOU DO NOT DO THE SPECIFIED INSTRUCTIONS, DAMAGE TO THE TIP SEALS FOR THE TURBINE BLADES CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: TO DECREASE A POSSIBLE OVERTEMPERATURE CONDITION, YOU MUST
_______ QUICKLY MOVE (IN LESS THAN ONE SECOND) ALL THRUST LEVERS REARWARD FROM THE HIGH POWER. YOU MUST ALSO DO ALL ENGINE OPERATION FOR MAINTENANCE FUNCTIONS, WHICH BLEEDS CLOSED DATA IS NOT NECESSARY, AT POWER LEVELS LESS THAN THE 2.5 BLEED CLOSED POSITION (APPROXIMATELY 75% N1).
 (1)  Compressor Stall
 (a)
A compressor stall can occur if the aerodynamic flow of air through the compressor is not smooth.

 (b)
A compressor stall will have the conditions that follow: engine noises, such as rumbling or large noises; engine parameters which are not stable; high EGT; or sluggish or no response to thrust lever movement.

NOTE: During an engine operation at power levels more than
____ 1.20 EPR, keep one hand on the thrust lever and the other hand on the FUEL CONTROL switch. This will make it easier to quickly do an engine shutdown if a compressor stall has an overtemperature condition.

(c)  If a compressor surge (stall) occurs, do the steps that follow:
NOTE: A compressor stall which you cannot stop will have an
____ EGT which quickly increases, fuel flow which decreases, rotor speeds which quickly decrease, and thrust lever movement which does not change the engine speed. A compressor stall at idle or low thrust will possibly have a high stable EGT and small change in thrust when the thrust lever is moved. The engine will only operate correctly if you do the engine shutdown and start procedure again.
 1) Quickly (in less than one second) move the thrust lever
rearward to the idle speed. 2) Put the FUEL CONTROL switch to the CUTOFF position. 3) Engage the starter after the N2 is less than 15%. 4) Motor the engine for 30 seconds to remove the fuel or gases
that are in the engine. 5) Continue to motor the engine until the EGT is less than 180°C (356°F).
 (d)  If the EGT was not more than the limits, do the Start Procedure After An Emergency Engine Shutdown.
 S 862-055-N00
 (2)  Engine Fire
CAUTION: IF YOU CANNOT MOTOR THE ENGINE, YOU ARE RECOMMENDED TO
_______ DISASSEMBLE AND CLEAN THE ENGINE PARTS IMMEDIATELY. IF YOU DO NOT CLEAN THE ENGINE PARTS, CORROSION CAN OCCUR AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
 (a)  If the engine had an external or internal engine fire, and fire extinguishers were used, clean the engine (AMM 72-00-00/701).
 S 862-056-N00
 (3)  Cowling Limits
 (a)
The engine is usually operated with the fan cowl panels, thrust reverser halves and core cowl panels installed and closed.

 (b)
You can motor the engine at a speed of 28% N2 or less with the cowling open and held by the hold-open rods.
