7. Test No. 5 - Oil System Static Leak Test________________________________________
A. General
CAUTION: DO NOT SUPPLY MORE THAN 10 PSIG (68.9 KPA) PRESSURE OR 325°F
_______ (163°C) TEMPERATURE AIR IN THE GEARBOX. DO NOT MOTOR THE ENGINE DURING THIS TEST. IF YOU MOTOR THE ENGINE WHILE THE OIL SYSTEM IS PRESSURIZED, OIL CONTAMINATION OF THE COMPRESSORS AND GASPATH CAN OCCUR.

The static leak test will pressurize the gearbox with air through an external fitting installed to the deoiler outlet tube on the gearbox. This static leak test will also do a check for leaks. An internal pressure of 10 psig (68.9 kPag) is sufficient time to find leakage. Higher pressure can cause the carbon seals to move in the compartments of the main shaft bearing which are connected to the gearbox.
