2.
The fire warning bell is on.
_
4) If the fire did not extinguish after the first bottle was discharged, turn the fire handle to the left to discharge bottle A or to the right to discharge bottle B.
(d) Do a quick engine shutdown with no fire warning indication (do not operate at idle for five minutes to let the engine become cool).
NOTE: During the quick engine shutdown on the ground, the
____ cooling air through the engine decreases very quickly and fully stops when the engine speed decreases. The cooling air which quickly decreases can cause the turbine blade to rub against the shroud and the low pressure turbine (LPT) to stop.
1) Put the AUTOSTART switch on the pilots' overhead panel, P5,
to the OFF position (Fig. 209).
2) Let the engine decrease in speed to less than 15% N2.
3) Pull out the applicable engine START button to motor the
engine for two minutes with the largest starter air
pressure available (24-55 psi).

CAUTION: DO NOT MOVE THE THRUST LEVERS FORWARD MORE THAN THE
_______ IDLE POSITION IF THE FAN BLADES DO NOT TURN. IF YOU MOVE THE THRUST LEVERS WHEN THE FAN BLADES DO NOT TURN, DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN OCCUR.
4) If the N1 fan blades do not turn, visually or by N1 indication, stop for five minutes and do the steps to motor the engine again.
5) If the N1 fan blades do not turn again, try to motor the
engine after each five minutes until it will motor.
6) Push the START button and let the engine decrease in speed.
7) Immediately after the engine is sufficiently motored, start
the engine and monitor the N1 rpm.
8) If the N1 indication does not show in less than 20 seconds (30 seconds if the fuel system maintenance is done or it is the first start after an overhaul) after the N2 rpm is at stable minimum idle speed, stop the engine.
9) Immediately after the N2 rpm decreases to zero (N2 is less than 4%) rpm, try to start the engine again.
10) Let the N2 rpm become stable at minimum idle for 30 seconds or less, from the time the engine gets to minimum idle, if the N1 rpm does not show.
11) If the LPT rotor becomes free and N1 rpm shows in the first or the second 20-second try to start the engine, let the engine operate at idle for five minutes before you increase the thrust to a higher level.
12) If the LPT rotor does not become free during the second 20-second try to start the engine, do the engine shutdown procedure.
(e) Do an inspection after a fast engine shutdown.
NOTE: When an engine shutdown is quickly done, the ignition
____ system does not sufficiently become cool.
1) Examine the cable, specially at the igniter plug terminal, to make sure the high temperatures did not cause damage to the lead insulation, or the rubber bushings.
NOTE: If the lead insulation or the rubber bushing has
____ damage, the cables can possibly have an arc, flashover, or carbon tracking.
