F. Prepare for the Engine Operation

(1) Examine the ramp area around and below the nose gear and the main landing gear.
(a)
Make sure the ramp area and the tires are clean and free of contamination and possible FOD (Foreign Object Damage).
(b)
Water, frost, ice, snow, oil, grease, sand or other contaminations are not permitted on the pavement or under the wheels.

(2) Apply the parking brake.
(a) Make sure a PARK BRAKE SET indication shows on EICAS.

Put the nose landing gear in the forward direction.

Install ground locks on the nose and main landing gear.

Put chocks 6 to 12 inches (15 to 30 cm) in front and aft of the nose and all main landing gear tires.

Supply electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).

CAUTION: DO NOT OPERATE THE AIRPLANE HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS UNLESS THE FUEL
_______ QUANTITY IS SUFFICIENT TO GO ABOVE THE HEAT EXCHANGERS FOR THE HYDRAULIC FLUID. IF YOU OPERATE THE AIRPLANE HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS WITHOUT SUFFICIENT FUEL, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRPLANE HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS.
(7) Make sure the fuel tanks are sufficiently filled to the limits that follow and the tank sumps are free of water.
(a)
A minimum of 1135 liters of fuel in tank No. 1 and tank No. 4.
(b)
A minimum of 3047 liters of fuel in tank No. 2 and tank No. 3.

Do the servicing procedure for the fuel tanks as it is necessary (AMM 12-11-01/301).

Move and attach the engine safety barrier at the inlet area, if it is necessary.

(10) Examine the area around the engine for unwanted materials.
NOTE: The area includes the air inlet, fan and turbine exhaust

areas, wing leading edge immediately above the engine, and
the ground area.

(11) Examine the hydraulic fluid reservoir for sufficient servicing through the sight gage or look at the hydraulic fluid quantity on the EICAS hydraulic synoptic.
(a)
Push the HYD button on the EICAS select panel.
(b)
Make sure the hydraulic synoptic shows on the auxiliary EICAS.
(c)
Make sure the RF (Refill) or OF (Overfill) does not show
adjacent to the HYD QTY display for the applicable engine.

(12) Examine the engine oil tank for sufficient servicing.
(a) If it is necessary, do the servicing procedure for the engine oil tank (AMM 12-13-03/301).

(13) Examine the IDG for sufficient servicing.
(a) If it is necessary, do the servicing procedure for the IDG
(AMM 12-13-07/301).

CAUTION: MAKE SURE TO GET THE LOCAL BAROMETRIC PRESSURE (WHICH IS NOT
_______ CORRECTED TO SEA LEVEL) FROM THE CONTROL TOWER. IF YOU DO NOT GET THE BAROMETRIC PRESSURE FROM THE CONTROL TOWER, YOU CAN GET AN INCORRECT VALUE.
(14) Find the barometric pressure.
