TEST NO. 9 - PERFORMANCE TEST
_____________________________ S 865-095-N00
CAUTION:_______ DO NOT MOVE THE THRUST LEVER FORWARD WHEN A POSSIBLE ENGINE
STALL OCCURS. YOU MUST MOVE THE THRUST LEVER REARWARD WHEN A
POSSIBLE STALL OCCURS. IF YOU MOVE THE THRUST LEVER FORWARD,
DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION:_______ MONITOR THE PRESSURE RATIO FOR THE TURBINE COOLING AIR WHEN THE
ENGINE IS OPERATED MORE THAN IDLE SPEED. THIS IS NECESSARY TO
MAKE SURE THERE IS A SUFFICIENT AIR SUPPLY TO THE TURBINE. IF
THE PRESSURE RATIO IS MORE THAN THE SPECIFIED LIMITS, IT CAN
CAUSE UNSATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE OF THE ENGINE. IF THE
PRESSURE RATIO IS LESS THAN THE SPECIFIED LIMITS, IT CAN CAUSE
DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(3) If an engine stall occurs, do the steps that follow:
(a)
Quickly (1 second or less) move the thrust lever rearward to the idle position.
(b)
Put the FUEL CONTROL switch to the CUTOFF position.
(c)
Put the AUTOSTART switch to the OFF position.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT ENGAGE THE STARTER AT A SPEED OF MORE
_______ THAN 15% N2. DAMAGE TO THE STARTER CAN OCCUR.
(d)
Let the speed of the engine decrease to less than 15 %N2, then pull out the applicable START switch.
WARNING:_______USE AMM 71-00-00/201 TO OPERATE THE POWER PLANT. IF YOU DO NOT USE THIS PROCEDURE, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT AND INJURY TO PERSONS.
(e)
Use the Power Plant Dry-Motor procedure to motor the engine until the EGT is less than 180°C (AMM 71-00-00/201).

TEST NO. 9 - PERFORMANCE TEST
_____________________________
(f) Do the necessary corrections for an engine stall [Ref 71-FAULT CODE DIAGRAM, Surge (Stall) - Fault Codes].
CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU DO THE START PROCEDURE AFTER AN EMERGENCY
_______ ENGINE SHUTDOWN. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS PROCEDURE, DAMAGE TO THE TURBINE BLADE TIP SEALS CAN OCCUR.
(g) Do this procedure: Start Procedure After An Emergency Engine Shutdown (AMM 71-00-00/201).
S 715-244-N00
(4) If the Vibration Survey is necessary, do Test No. 8 at this time.
S 865-026-N00
WARNING: MAKE SURE THE BRAKES OPERATE CORRECTLY AND NO PERSONS ARE IN
_______ THE AREA OF THE HIGH SPEED EXHAUST. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY TO PERSONS CAN OCCUR.
(5) Do a check of the 1.25 EPR power performance and the pressure ratio of the turbine cooling air.
(a)
If it is not done, move the thrust lever forward to get 1.25 EPR. 1) Let the engine become stable for 60 seconds.
(b)
Go to the EICAS Performance maintenance display (AMM 31-61-00/201). 1) Make sure the engine gets to the target EPR. 2) Make a record of the EPR, N1, EGT, N2, and BURN PR (PS3).
(c)
Get access to the EICAS EPCS maintenance display
(AMM 31-61-00/201).
1) Make a record of the PT2 and TT2.
NOTE: If PT2 and TT2 are not available, true local
____ barometric pressure (PAMB) and ambient temperature (outside air temperature, OAT) can be substituted in all calculations. Determine OAT in shade of airplane nose gear.
