Visually examine the pitot tip for an inward dent (Fig. 604):
(a)
Make sure that the dent is less than 0.030 inches from the usual tip diameter.
(b)
Make sure that the dent does not include more than 20 percent of the tip circumference.

(10) Visually examine the pitot tip for nicks (Fig. 605):
(a)
Make sure the depth of a nick is less than 0.035 inches when the pitot tip contains only one nick.
(b)
Make sure the depth of each nick is less than 0.025 inches when the pitot tip contains two nicks.

Replace the pitot-static probe if the damage is more than permitted limits (Ref 34-11-01/401).

Reinstall the pitot-static probe if it is in tolerance.

PITOT-STATIC PROBE - CLEANING/PAINTING

1. General_______
A. This subject has two tasks. The first task is to clean the material collected in the pitot opening, static ports, and drain hole of the probe. The second task is to clean the external surface of the pitot-static probe.
B. The pitot-static probe should not be painted. The data from the pitot-static probe can be affected if you paint the pitot-static probe.
