 (10) Set the engine No. 1 fuel control switch to RUN.
 E. Altitude Alert System and EIU Interface Test

 (1)  
Set the captain's EIU source select switch to the L position.

 (2)
Set the first officer's EIU source select switch to the R position.


 (a)  Make sure that the altitude displays on the PFD's are satisfactory. 1) A satisfactory altitude display on the PFD has these
 components:
 a) A baro-corrected altitude tape.

 b)  A selected altitude numeric display above the tape.
 c)  When you do not see altitude alert indications, the altitude display box has single-stroked half-intensity white lines.
 d)  Altitude alert conditions are shown by a color change, the line width of the display box, and a white box around the selected altitude display.
 (b)  
Make sure that you do not see an altitude alert indication on the EICAS displays.

 (c)  
Make sure that no aural warning comes on.

 (d)  
Make sure that you write down the baro-corrected value on the PFD's.


 S 865-010
 (3)  
Use the ALT knob on the MCP to set a selected altitude of 1000 feet above the baro-corrected altitude.

 S 715-011

 (4)  
Slowly decrease the selected altitude on the MCP.


 (a)  Make sure that these indications occur on the PFD's: 1) On the PFD's, the altitude display box changes to a full
 intensity triple-stroked white box. 2) You will also see a white box around the selected altitude. 3) An advisory chord aural heard on the aural warning
 speakers.
 NOTE: You will hear an aural advisory chord on the aural
____ warning speakers, when the selected altitude goes through a value of 900 feet above the baro-corrected altitude.
 S 715-012
 (5)  Decrease the selected altitude until the selected altitude is the same as the baro-corrected altitude.
 (a)  
Make sure that the altitude displays on the PFD's go back to a satisfactory value

 (b)  
Make sure that you cannot hear an aural warning.


 NOTE: You will complete this step when the selected altitude
____ goes through a value of 300 feet above the baro-corrected altitude.
 S 715-013
 (6)  Slowly increase the selected altitude.
 (a)  Make sure that these indications occur: 1) Make sure that the altitude readout box changes to a yellow
 double-stroked box. 2) Make sure that you see the caution message >ALTITUDE ALERT.

 3)  Make sure that the master caution light comes on.
 4)  A level B owl aural warning will come from the aural
 warning speakers.
 NOTE:____ You will complete this step when the selected
 altitude goes through a value of 300 feet above the
 baro-corrected altitude.

 To ensure the master caution light comes on in step (3), stop for at least 5 minutes after you open the engine No. 1 igniter circuit breakers.
 S 715-014
 (7)  Continue to increase the selected altitude.
 (a)  
Make sure that you do not see an indication of altitude deviation.

 (b)  
Make sure that the altitude displays on the PFD's go back to a satisfactory value.


 NOTE: You will complete this step when the selected altitude
____ goes through a value of 900 feet above the baro-corrected altitude.
 S 715-017
 (8)  Set the captain's and first officer's EIU source select switches to the C position.
 (a)  Make sure that the altitude displays on the PFD's stay the same.
