 (3)  S 864-007Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers: (a) P6 Main Power Distribution Panel 1) 6L1 FLT DECK LIGHT STBY INST 2) 6E19 FLT DK LIGHTS PANEL CAPT
 (4)  S 864-008Supply the electrical power (Ref 24-22-00/201).
 (5)  S 714-009Make sure the indicator lights are on.
 (6)  S 864-010Remove the electrical power if it is not necessary (Ref 24-22-00/201).

 STANDBY ALTIMETER - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General
_______
 A.  This subject contains two tasks. The first task is to remove the standby altimeter. The second task is to install the standby altimeter. The installation task includes a test of the installation of the altimeter.
 B.  The standby altimeter (N141) is installed on the pilot's P2 center instrument panel. The altimeter is connected to the alternate static pitot-static system.
 C.  The standby altimeter is held in the instrument panel by an instrument mounting clamp. The instrument mounting clamp is attached to the instrument panel with two mounting screws (see Figure 401). The altimeter is held in the mounting clamp by two adjustment screws. To remove the altimeter from the instrument panel, it is only necessary to loosen the two adjustment screws.

 (1)  Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
 (a)  
P6 Main Power Distribution Panel
 1) 6L1 FLT DECK LIGHT STBY INST
 2) 6E19 FLT DK LIGHTS PANEL CAPT


 (b)  
P7 Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel
 1) 7B26 STBY INSTR ALTM VIB

 

 S 024-003
 (2)  Remove the standby altimeter:
 (a)  Loosen the two adjustment screws adjacent to the altimeter (see Figure 401).
 CAUTION: CAREFULLY PULL THE ALTIMETER FROM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL.
_______ TOO MUCH FORCE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE AND THE HOSE ON THE REAR OF THE ALTIMETER.
 (b)  Pull the indicator out of the instrument panel until you can get at the electrical connector and the hose.

 CAUTION: DO NOT DISCONNECT THE PITOT-STATIC SYSTEM HOSES WHEN THE
_______ SYSTEM IS NOT AT AMBIENT PRESSURE. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE STANDBY ALTIMETER.
 (c)  
Disconnect the pitot-static system hose from the altimeter.

 (d)  
Disconnect the electrical connector from the altimeter.

 (e)  
Install dust caps on the electrical connectors.

 3. Standby Altimeter Installation

 A. General
 (1)  You do not have to do a leak test when you connect a quick-disconnect fitting. A visual examination of the quick-disconnect for a complete seal is necessary. You must do a leak test when you cannot make sure that the quick-disconnect has a complete seal.
