 (4) different steps. The first step is to disconnect all of the instruments, equipment, and drains from the pitot-static system. The second step is to seal all of the pitot-static lines. The third step is to flush each line with air. The fourth step is to put the airplane back to a satisfactory condition. A leakage test must be done on the pitot-static system where you removed the drain plugs.
 B.  Draining removes or assures the absence of liquid collected in the pitot-static system drains. Flushing removes or assures the absence of any foreign matter in the pitot-static lines.

 2.  Drain Pitot-Static System_________________________
 A.  General
 (1)  The pitot-static drains are installed at these locations:
 (a)  
Some of the drains are in the left and right crawlways at STA 260 and STA 400.

 (b)  
Some of the drains are in the electrical and electronics compartment.

 (c)  
Some of the drains are in the left side of the forward cargo compartment.

 (d)  
Some of the drains are in the right side of the bulk cargo compartment.

 (e)  
Some of the drains are in section 48 below the elevator feel computer.


 B.  Standard Tools and Equipment
 (1)  Receptacle and/or absorbent cloth for collecting
 small amount of liquid from each drain

 E. Procedure

 (1)  Use these steps to do a visual inspection of the drain assembly shown in Fig. 301:
 (a)  
Examine the drain assembly for moisture.

 (b)  
Do steps to drain each assembly if moisture is visible.

 (2)  Use these steps to drain each assembly:
 (a)  
To remove the drain cap push up and twist to release the cap from the bayonet pins.

 (b)  
Turn the drain cap and put the raised portion of the cap into the bottom of the drain body.

 (c)  
Push the cap into the drain body with hand pressure.

 (d)  
Drain all of the liquid from the sump.

 (e)  
Replace the cap on the drain body in the original position.

 (f)  
Make sure that the quick disconnect type drain cap is correctly connected.

 (3)  Use these steps to drain the pitot-static lines:
 (a)  
Remove the drain plug from the drain line.

 (b)  
Let the collected liquid drain from the pitot-static line.

 (c)  
Replace the drain plug.

 3.  Flush the Pitot-Static System_____________________________
 A. General
 (1)  The pitot lines can be distinguished from the static lines by color-coded quick disconnects. The red colored quick disconnects are used on the pitot systems and the yellow quick disconnects are used on the static systems.
 B. Standard Tools and Equipment
 (1)  
Dry air pressure source, 0-50 psig with filter and gage for measuring pressure

 (2)  
BACC14AD06D pressure cap (3/8") (16 required)
