R A. Cleaning
R R R R WARNING : CLEANING SOLVENTS ARE FLAMMABLE, VOLATILE, TOXIC. THEY SHOULD_______ BE USED WITH ADEQUATE VENTILATION. AVOID PROLONGED BREATHING OF VAPORS AND REPEATED OR PROLONGED CONTACT WITH THE SKIN, OR CLOTHING.
R R CAUTION : DO NOT APPLY TOO MUCH PRESSURE WITH YOUR HAND OR YOU WILL CAUSE_______ DAMAGE TO THE PAINT.
(1) Use the vacuum cleaner or the soft brush to remove loose particles.
R R (2) Use a MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003), made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-004) to remove heavy contamination.
NOTE : Make sure unwanted material does not go into the spoiler____ bearings and the servo control.
(3) Use clean water to remove the CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-001)
(4) Use clean MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003) to dry the spoiler.
(5) Use a MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003), made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-004) to clean the spoiler. Clean a small area at a time. Apply the cleaning agent to the cloth and not the cloth to the cleaning agent. This prevents contamination of the cleaning agent.
(10) Dry the surfaces with the clean MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003). Subtask 57-71-11-370-050

SPOILER 2 - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
_____________________________________
1. General
_______
(Ref. Fig. 001)
R The spoiler 2 is installed on the fixed structure of the trailing edge. It is connected to the mid rear spar, immediately outboard of the kink position.
The spoiler 2 is one of five spoilers which are extended or retracted for these functions:
-roll function
-speedbrake function
-ground spoilers function.
The drive mechanism of the spoilers is electrically controlled (Ref. 27-90-00) and uses hydraulic power to extend or retract the surfaces (Ref. 27-64-00).
R
2. Component Description
_____________________ The spoiler is a wedge shaped structure of carbon fiber top and bottom skins, sides and trailing edge profile, bonded to a honeycomb core. There are four machined aluminum-alloy attachment-fittings. These are the inboard and outboard hinge brackets (with links) the center hinge and the spoiler actuator attachment-fitting. The actuator attachment-fitting is installed within the center hinge. The spoiler is attached by the links and the center hinge to the mid rear spar.
A titanium alloy rubbing strip is attached to the trailing edge of the spoiler, to prevent damage to the spoiler when the outboard flap is retracted. Seals are located at the inboard and outboard ends and along the leading edge of the spoiler.
