 (1) Put warning notices in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
 (2) Put the safety barriers in position.

 B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
 (1) Make sure that the flaps are fully retracted (Ref. TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
 (2) Install the TOOL-ZERO LOCKING, FLAP SLAT CTL LEVER (98D27803500001) on the flap/slat control lever.
 (3) Put the adjustable access platform below the applicable flap track 2, 3 or 4, zone 531(631), 532 (632) or 533(633).

 -MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

 A. Deactivation of the Damaged Fairing
 (1)
 Remove the applicable damaged fairing (Ref. TASK 57-55-11-000-001).

 (2)
 Write in the aircraft log that the flap-track fairing has been deactivated.

 NOTE : It may be necessary to lubricate the deactivated flap-track
____ assembly (because of bad weather and the local conditions) (Ref. TASK 12-22-27-640-004).

R  A. Deactivation of the Damaged Fairing 
R  (1) Remove the applicable damaged fairing (Ref. TASK 57-55-11-000-004). 
R  (2) For the track 2 position only, attach the electrical harnesses to 
R  aircraft structure as follows: 
R  CAUTION : DO NOT TIGHTEN THE CABLE TIE THAT IS USED AS A GUIDE FOR_______ 
R  THE ELECTRICAL HARNESSES. 
R  IF THE TIE IS TOO TIGHT, THE HARNESSES CANNOT MOVE WHEN THE 
R  FLAPS ARE EXTENDED OR RETRACTED. 
R  (a) Examine the electrical harnesses (9) for correct condition. 
R  (b) Attach the electrical harnesses (9) together at distances of 150 
R  mm (6.0 in.) to 200 mm (8.0 in.) with the cable ties (3). 
R  (c) Connect the electrical harnesses (9) to the interface connectors 
R  (6) then: 
R  - put the electrical harnesses (9) in position along the flap 
R  drive-arm (7) and the fairing drive-lever (4) 
R  - put the interface connectors (6) in the aft recess of the flap 
R  drive-arm (7). 
R  (d) Install the cable ties (3) to loosely hold the interface 
R  connectors (6) and the electrical harnesses (9). Put the cable 
R  ties (3) at distances of between 25 mm (0.9842 in.) and 50 mm 
R  (1.9685 in.) at: 
R  - the fairing drive-lever (4) 
R  - the flap link-arm (8) 
R  - the flap drive-lever (7). 
R  (e) Attach the electrical harnesses (3) at point 'Y' with the two 
R  cable ties (3). 
R  (f) Attach the electrical harnessses (9) to the flap drive lever (7) 
R  at point 'X' with the two cable ties (3). 
R  (g) Make the loops, at point 'Z', of the electrical harnesses (9) 
R  that are to pass through point 'X'. Make the loops in the correct
