A. Safety Precautions
(1) Put warning notices in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(2) Put the safety barriers in position. Subtask 57-55-11-860-057
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1)
Make sure that the flaps are fully retracted (Ref. TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
(2)
Install the TOOL-ZERO LOCKING, FLAP SLAT CTL LEVER (98D27803500001) on the flap/slat control-lever.
(3)
Put the adjustable access platform in position below the applicable fairing at flap track 2, 3 or 4, zone 531(631), 532(632) or 533(633).

4. Procedure

A. Removal of the Flap Track Fairing CAUTION : YOU MUST FOLLOW THESE STEPS OF THE PROCEDURE ACCURATELY. THIS
_______ WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
(1) Remove the applicable forward fixed fairing 531AB(631AB) or 532AB(632AB) or 533AB(633AB):
(a)
Remove the bolts (2).
(b)
Carefully move the forward fixed fairing forward, to disengage the spigot (3) from its keyhole plate. Hold the forward fixed fairing until the bonding strap (1) has been disconnected.
NOTE : The forward fixed fairing is connected, through the
____ bonding strap (1), to the support bracket of the aft fixed fairing.
(c)
For the track 2 and the track 3 positions, remove the nut (20), the bolt (13) and disconnect the bonding straps (1) and (19).
(d)
For the track 4 position, remove the bolt (22) and disconnect the bonding straps (1) and (21).
(2) Remove the applicable aft fixed fairing 531BB(631BB), or 532BB(632BB) or 533BB(633BB):
(a) Remove the applicable covers (4):
1_ For the track 2 position, remove the screws (5) and the covers
(4) 531AR(631AR), 531AL(631AL).
2_ For the track 3 position, remove the screws (5) and the covers
(4) 532AR(632AR), 532AL(632AL).
3_ For the track 4 position, remove the screws (5) and the covers
(4) 533AR(632AR), 533AL(633AL).
