Put the safety barriers in position.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1)
Extend the flaps fully (Ref. TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
(2)
Make sure that the LOCKING TOOL - FLAP/SLAT CONTROL LEVER is installed on the flap/slat control lever.
(3)
Put the access platform in position below the applicable flap, zone 581(681) or 587(687).

A. Check of the Flap Track Fairing Lateral Movement
(1) Measure the lateral movement of each movable fairing as follows:
(a)
Move the fairing (with a hand force of between 23 kg (51 lb) and 27 kg (60 lb)) to the left.
(b)
Put a straight edge in a vertical position against the flap trailing edge adjacent to the fairing. Make sure you do not move the straight edge.
