(2) Movable fairing
The movable fairing is made of carbon fibre with a honeycomb core. Silicon rubber seals and seal mouldings, which are attached to the top edge of the fairing, touch the wing bottom skin. There is a pivot seal on the forward end which closes the joint between the fixed and movable fairings. The fairing has two pivot mounting brackets which hold bearings and are made of aluminum alloy. Clip-in covers of polyester protect the pivot bolt-heads.
An aluminum alloy platform attaches the flap link connecting rod to the rear of the fairing (Ref. 27-54-00). Aft of the platform there is an aluminum alloy mounting bracket to which a top cover, made of glass fiber with a honeycomb core, is attached. A thermo-plastic tailcone is attached to the aft end of the fairing. It has a static discharger and retainer (Ref. 23-60-00).

C. Flap Tab Hinge Fairings (Ref. 27-50-00)
(1) Inboard hinge (1A) fairing
The inboard hinge, nearest to the wing root, has three main parts:
-
a hinged forward section which is connected to the shroud box
-
a fixed centre section connected to the inboard flap
-
a movable aft section connected to the flap tab and hinge.
(2) Outboard hinge fairings (Ref. 27-50-00)
The other hinge fairings (outboard of hinge 1A) have two main parts:
-
a fixed forward section connected to the flap
-
a movable aft section connected to the flap tab and hinge.
There is one fairing of this type on the inboard flap. All the fairings on the outboard flap are of the 2-section type.

D. Engine Pylon Aft Fairings
The engine pylon has two aft fairings:
-
the aft fixed fairing which has one attachment point on the bottom surface of the wing at the false rear spar (Ref. 54-54-00)
-
the aft movable fairing which is linked to the inboard flap by a swivel rod (Ref. 54-55-00).
