 B. Check of the Proximity Sensor Detection Range
 (Ref. Fig. 506A/TASK 32-31-73-991-032-B)

 (1)
Make sure that the applicable MLG is correctly filled and charged (Ref. TASK 12-14-32-614-003).

 (2)
Measure the dimension A. Make sure the dimension A is between 632.80 mm (24.9133 in.) and 636.95 mm (25.0767 in.).

 (3)
Disconnect the electrical connector from the applicable rear and forward proximity sensors 20GA(21GA) (System 1), 22GA(23GA) (System 2).

 (4)
Put blanking caps on the disconnected electrical connectors.

 (5)
Connect the LAMP BOX (460005842) to the electrical connector of the applicable proximity sensors 20GA(21GA) (System 1), 22GA(23GA) (system 2).

 (6)
Make sure that the switches on the lamp box are set to OFF.

 (7)
Connect a 28V D.C. supply to the lamp box and set the power switch to ON.

 (8)
Make sure that the RED lamp on the lamp box is ON.

 (9)
Set the indicator switches on the lamp box to ON and make sure that the GREEN lamps on the lamp box are ON.

 (10)
Put a jack (screw) 522 mm (21 in.) under the jacking dome of the applicable shock absorber.

 (11)
Slowly operate the jack to ensure that the jack-plunger locates safely.

 (12)
Use the jack to slowly compress the applicable MLG shock absorber.

 (13)
When the MLG shock absorber is compressed by 26.0 mm (1.0236 in.):

 (a)
The applicable forward proximity sensor 22GA(23GA) must operate.

 (b)
The applicable GREEN lamp on the lamp box must go OFF.

 (14)
When the MLG shock absorber is compressed by 29.3 mm (1.1535 in.):

 (a)
The applicable rear proximity sensor 20GA(21GA) must operate.

 (b)
The applicable GREEN lamp on the lamp box must go OFF.

 (15)
Slowly release the pressure from the jack to fully extend the shock absorber.

 (16)
Do the steps (12) thru (15) one more time.

 (17)
 Remove the jack.

 (18)
Set the lamp box switches to OFF, and disconnect the 28V D.C. supply.

 (19)
Remove the LAMP BOX from the applicable proximity sensor.

 (20)
Remove the blanking caps and connect the electrical connector to the applicable forward and rear proximity sensors.

 (1)
Make sure that the aircraft is lifted on jacks to fully extend the shock absorber (Ref. TASK 07-11-00-581-001).

 (2)
Make sure that the applicable MLG shock absorber is correctly filled and charged (Ref. TASK 12-14-32-614-003).

 (3)
For the rear proximity sensor 20GA(21GA):

-if the dimension X is incorrect, do the steps that follow: NOTE : (Dimension X must be between 3.9 mm (0.1535 in.) and 4.1 mm
____
 (0.1614 in.)).

 (a)
 Measure the dimensions F, G and H.

 (b)
Use the formula to calculate the dimension X.

 (c)
Remove the nuts (18), the washers (17) and the screws (14).

 (d)
 Remove the target (15).

 (e)
Remove and discard the spacer (16) if installed.

 (f)
Make sure that the target mounting bracket is in the correct condition.

 (g)
If necessary, adjust the new spacer (16) to get the correct dimension X.

NOTE : It is possible that two spacers are necessary.
____
 (h)
Install the new spacer(s) (16) if necessary, and the target (15) together with the screws (14), the washers (17) and the nuts (18).
