b. Operations along VICTOR 1 must remain E of the control zone BDRY & over water
at all times. This is required to maintain separation with other ACFT arriving RWY
25, 34L & 34R and departing RWY 07, 16L & 16R Sydney (KS) Airport.
c. CONTOUR FLYING OF BONDI, COOGEE & MAROUBRA BEACHES IS NOT
PERMITTED.
d. Although Victor 1 is in uncontrolled airspace, two segments of the route must be
navigated E of two straight lines between:
(i) Ben Buckler (northern headland Bondi beach) to the eastern most point of Long
Bay Headland (southern headland Maroubra beach) ; and
(ii) the eastern most point of Cape Banks & the lighthouse on Cape Solander (North
& South Heads Botany Bay).
e. Operations are restricted to VMC by day only.
f. The carriage & use of radio is mandatory. Make an "All Stations" call joining Victor
1, stating position & intentions. Pilots of opposite direction ACFT must respond with
their position. Broadcast FREQ 120.8MHZ. Switch on landing lights & be alert for
opposite direction traffic.
g. Pilots are required to use the current local SY QNH AVBL on the SY ATIS. RWY
INFO AVBL on the ATIS will assist pilots in anticipating ACFT overflying VICTOR 1
to/FM SY Airport & determining wake turbulence risk.
h. 120.8MHZ is not monitored by SY ATC. Should an emergency arise, pilots are
advised to call SYDNEY RADAR or make an emergency call on 121.5MHZ which
is usually monitored by other aircraft (general international transport operations)
18.3.1 SEPARATION WITH SYDNEY AIRPORT TRAFFIC
18.4 Under normal circumstances, ACFT arriving & departing SY airport will be at least 500FT
higher than the CTA step, i.e. 500FT higher than traffic on VICTOR 1. However, there is
always the remote possibility of a heavily laden ACFT DEP SY airport suffering an engine
failure or some other form of impaired operating efficiency. Under these extremely rare

circumstances, the 500FT vertical separation design buffer might be infringed. Pilots
flying in VICTOR 1 should be aware of the possibility of these occurences, and to see
and avoid all other ACFT.
18.5 WAKE TURBULENCE
a. The wake turbulence separation of 1,000FT vertical displacement FM heavy ACFT
may not always be available when flying VICTOR 1.
b. Because of the unpredictable nature of wake turbulence, pilots must remain vigilant
of the proximity of heavy ACFT, and on becoming aware of the presence of such an
ACFT, adjust their flight path to pass well behind or to orbit well clear of the effected
airspace.
c. The recommended standard is 6NM or 3 minutes.
NOISE ABATEMENT PROCEDURES
Noise Abatement Procedures (NAP) and Curfew applies. Refer AIP DAP.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
1. SECURITY REQUIREMENTS - All fixed wing and helicopter crew operating at SY, must
hold either Australian or SY Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC). Operations
should be through a SY based Fixed Base Operator or make arrangements with Airport
Operations (02 9667 9824) to be met on arrival or departure to be escorted to and from
aircraft.
2. Bird hazard exists.
3. ACFT carrying livestock or Dangerous Goods Class 1 Explosives require prior approval
from AD OPR. Minimum 24HR notice. Phone 61 2 9667 9921 FAX: 61 2 9667 9541.
4. All ACFT, unless associated with the NORMAL preparation for flight, are not permitted
to conduct engine runs, including idle power, without prior authorisation from AD OPR,
Phone 61 2 9667 9824 or 0419 278 208.
