FLIGHT PROCEDURES
1. All ACFT ARR & DEP WI 30NM of SY are RQ to operate not above 250KT IAS BLW
10,000FT AMSL. ACFT which operationally RQ speeds greater than 250KT IAS must
advise ATC.
2. All jet ACFT departures must commence acceleration to 250KT IAS no later then 3,000FT,
then must maintain 250KT until leaving 10,000FT. Pilots unable to comply must advise
ATS with Airways Clearance Request.
3. At Sydney, go-arounds from a visual approach in VMC must be carried out:
a. in accordance with the published instrument missed approach procedure for the
primary instrument approach for the RWY the ACFT is using, or
b. as directed by ATC.
4. Circling APCH PROC to RWY 07/25 and 16L/34R at night is not permitted.
5. INT DEP RWY 16L FM TWY Tango 1 not AVBL HN.
6. CENTRAL TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (CTMS) - PROCEDURES
6.1 Pilots operating into and out of Sydney airport are required to obtain a slot in advance of
the operation. Slots are obtained from Airport Coordination Australia (ACA) on 02 9313
5469 or Fax 02 9313 4210 MON-FRI 0800-1600 local. Arrival Slots allocated by ACA
may be subject to change by CTMS because of operational constraints. Refer para 7 and
8.Slots for short notice non-scheduled flights shall be obtained on the day of operation
from ATC on 1800 020 626. These Slots will be allocated from the available pool.
6.2 All fixed-wing aircraft operating into Sydney Airport are required to advise flight details.
Failure to advise or update flight details may result in extensive airborne holding or no
airways clearance being issued.
6.3 Non-scheduled flights must provide:
a. departure aerodrome,
b. destination aerodrome,
c. ETD,
d. ETA,
e. aircraft callsign,
f. aircraft type,
g. class of operation, and
h. pilot's name and contact phone number, by telephone on 1800 020 626, not later
than 60 minutes prior to the proposed operation to arrange suitable operating times.
Any changes to these times must be notified prior to departure.
6.4 Pilots (or agents) of fixed wing ACFT with destination SY which have an EET of 40 MINS
or less are RQ to contact SYDNEY FLOW by telephone 02 9556 6515 as follows:
a. Prior to CTMS programmed gate DEP time if OPR more than 5 MIN later than CTMS
programmed time.
b. Within 5MIN of engine start if the CTMS gate time has changed within last 30 MINS.
6.5 Alternative procedure for flights DEP CB. Pilot may contact CB GND by radio in accordance
with the requirements in the preceding para.
6.6 Flights will be allocated landing times based on the available capacity of the airport.
Landing times may be varied due to changes in conditions e.g. unexpected weather
conditions or sudden changes in RWY capacity. Pilots are required to adhere to these
times. Departure times may be changed in conjunction with changes in landing times.
Notification of changes to slots allocated to existing scheduled flights should be advised
to Airports Coordination Authority in accordance with the Compliance Administration
Manual.
6.7 Pilots of RPT aircraft will be advised of the latest operating time through their
company. Pilots of other aircraft MUST contact Air Traffic Services (ATS) Sydney
unit one hour prior to operating - phone 1800 020626.

6.8 Flights operating Bankstown to Sydney with a slot already assigned must ring the
Flow Director on 02 9556 6515 one hour prior to the flight operating in lieu of the
notification in the preceding para.
6.9 Notification of flight details is additional to all existing notification requirements.
6.10 Unless instructed by ATC, pilots should maintain normal or specified climb cruise and
descent profiles.
7. RADIO FAILURE PROCEDURES - INDEPENDENT VISUAL APPROACHES
7.1 In the event of a radio failure (or blocked FREQ) on the DIRECTOR FREQ, pilots must
comply with the following actions:
a. ON PILOT NAVIGATION (IF VISUAL)
SQUAWK 7600 immediately.
Track to intercept final at a MAX 30DEG prior to the IAF of the nominated RWY.
DO NOT PASS THROUGH FINAL FOR THE NOMINATED RWY.
b. ON A RADAR ASSIGNED HEADING
SQUAWK 7600.
Maintain assigned vector for no longer than 2 minutes.Track as required to join final
for the nominated RWY at a MAX 30DEG intercept to commence final.
DO NOT PASS THROUGH FINAL OF THE NOMINATED RWY.
7.2 Pilots should attempt to contact the alternate DIRECTOR FREQ (126.1/125.3). Attempts
should also be made on the TWR FREQ.
