· Special regards should be taken to the fuel calculation since the crew may not be familiar
with Airbus fuel calculation principles. The consequences of diversion from the planned
cruising level should be pointed out.
· The crew should be briefed on Airbus capability of following q calculated lateral and vertical
flight profile, the corresponding MCDU flight plan issues and the corresponding advantages
of FMGS.
· The briefing should mention as well the differences in cruising speed and flight level
capability of jet aircraft.
· The crew should be provided with brief information on Fly-by-Wire technique once more
including the aircraft taxi, since the session will have to be performed in a real flight time
environment.
· Clear air turbulence (CAT)
· Side step approach
· Jet aircraft operation : time management
· Instructor is supposed to keep his role as an instructor despite of LOFT

IN THE BRIEFING ROOM
The crew must be provided with documents required for the flight :
COMPUTERIZED FLIGHT PLAN (CFP) :
CFP should be checked by the crew before the flight. Fuel corrections may be made
at Captain’s discretion.
MET REPORTS :
Weather should be analysed. Wind and temp at FL 230 to be inserted into MCDU
during cockpit preparation.
TAKE-OFF PERF TABLES :
Crew should define T/O configuration, T/O speed and acceleration altitude
Block fuel is increased due to weather, notams, optimistic fuel in CFP.
