requirements(1) but it also provides in deep knowledge, a thorough insight into the
operational and technical development that have come to light worldwide.
The regulation to be applied for operator recurrent training and checking may be more
restrictive than the guide lines described in this document, and in any case the operator
specifics need to be embedded.
By this mean, the operator is able to continually build on crew member experience so that
the operation of the aircraft is maintained with the highest level of safety.
It is the responsibility of the Airline to get the approval of their recurrent training/checking
program as it is defined in their operation manual.
The recurrent follow up of the sequence will remain under Airline responsibility as well as line
checks and Emergency & Safety equipement training and checking.
(1) The normal interval between 2 Recurrent Training and Checking programs is 6 months.

03 - COURSE DESCRIPTION
The two (2) Recurrent Training and Checking Programs comprise ground school (CBT),
CRM training and FFS sessions that ensure a complete aircraft system review after a cycle
of three years.
· CBT (SYSTEM REVIEW) :
The systems annually reviewed will be those suggested in the table given in the "Ground
Course review" sample. That table ensures a complete aircraft review over a cycle of 3
years. It will also include a study of in service experience events and operational
procedures.
A questionnaire covering all systems will be given to assess the level of knowledge.
· FFS :
The advantage of Airbus family concept is taken into account to classify Normal, Abnormal
and Emergency procedures in categories of equivalence according to their effect on :
- The Automation (Autopilot [A/P] - Flight directors [FD] - Autothrust [ATHR] - Flight
Management and Guidance Computer [FMGC])
- Approach procedures (aircraft configuration and landing characteristics)
- Flight control laws (Normal, Alternate, Direct laws)
A list of those events within their class is given in the detailed program.
This list includes events which have been selected by Airbus Training because of their
specificity.
The Operator is allowed to modify or add some events according to its own requirements
or National regulations.
· CRM TRAINING :
The objective of this training is to enhance communication and of pilot’s management skills.
It consists in briefing during training sessions and case based studies. Even if a 4 year
recurrent training cycle is required by the JAA, a unique period of 3 years is considered for
both CRM and system training. It should include elements such as :
- Situational awareness detecting and recovering.
- Situational awareness preventing
- Error, Performance and Safety
- Communication
- Team performance
- Procedures and practices
- Decision making
