B. FBS AND FFS NOTATIONS
The FBS and FFS syllabi are set up in such way that during each CM1 or CM2 session
each crew member is graded as PF or PNF respectively using the "Trainee’s file".
Two pages are used to grade each FBS / FFS session (see samples on following pages)

1. General Comments A :
Used to record comments on the session (i. e. explanation of "-" marks 2 )
2. Cosynus System Notation
The Cosynus system is designed to allow a very accurate notation of each FBS, FFS
and Flight session ; to do so, the instructor fills a notation table B and a coded
notation table C per session.

· Notation table B :
Five columns are used to record general performance as PF and PNF. Three are
quoted "+" (acceptable), 2 are quoted "-" (not acceptable) 3
In these columns the instructor will write a "+" or a "-" in the appropriate box for
each exercise 4 :
Very good : Well above standard
Good : Comfortable progress. "Good" must be the target for the check-ride
Acceptable : Normal progress, leaving room for improvement.
Unacceptable : Exercise must be repeated ; written comments are mandatory.
This grade is not accepted for any Evaluation session.
Safety involved : Must be used only in case of poor performance, possibly related
either to lack of procedural or system operational knowledge,
which could jeopardise the safety of flight.
Remedial training is mandatory before continuing the training ; this
notation must be accompanied by detailed comments and
reported to Airbus Industrie Director of Training.

· Coded comments table C :
Using the "Dictionary of Keywords" booklet he has been given, the instructor fills
this table coding the notations and general comments he wrote. Keywords are
3 digit numbers associated with preselected comments for each phase of flight or
procedure. Each line of this table can receive as many codes (numbers) as
needed 5 .
Coded comments must obviously fit with the notations in the columns "-" and "+"
Example : GOA 101 (Review go around procedures) :
