in the alphabet.

73.2.3 Minimum runway width for an aeroplane:
Subject to paras 73.2.4 and 73.2.5, the minimum runway width for
an aeroplane is the distance specified in Table 2 at the intersection
of:
a. the row in the Table that specifies the aeroplane’s code
number; and
b. the column in the Table that specifies its code letter.

73.2.4 Minimum runway width applicable to certain aeroplanes:
For an aeroplane that falls into either of the following two categories
the minimum runway width is the distance specified in Table
3, calculated in the same manner as Table 2:
a. An aeroplane for which a narrower runway width than that
applicable under para 73.2.3 is specified in Table 3.1, 3.2 or 3.3
in Advisory Circular 150/5300-13 issued by the Federal Aviation
Administration of the United States of America.
b. An aeroplane that has an aeroplane reference field length of
less than 1,500M and which for the purpose of taking off or
landing has the crosswind limits specified in its flight manual reduced
by 50%.

73.2.5 For other than agricultural operations, a minimum runway width of
15M is recommended for aeroplanes with a maximum take-off
weight not more than 5,700KG. Aeroplanes with a maximum takeoff
weight not exceeding 2,000KG can be operated safely on runways
as narrow as 10M provided there is no, or only light,
cross-wind. For agricultural operations, a 10M wide runway is the
recommended minimum. Additional guidance material on minimum
requirements for landing areas for aeroplane operations can
be found in CAAP 92-1(1).
73.2.6 An operator may request the CASA to conduct runway testing of
the operator’s aeroplane to determine its suitability to operate from
a runway narrower than that determined from Table 2. Subject to
that testing, the CASA may approve operations from the narrower
runway with such operational restrictions as are determined from
the testing being applied. All costs associated with such testing
will be the responsibility of the operator.

73.2.7 The CASA may require an aircraft to operate from a runway wider
than that determined from Table 2 when it is satisfied that the displayed
aeroplane handling performance during take-off and/or
landing warrants such a restriction being imposed.
73.2.8 When considering the performance of an aeroplane on a gravel,
grass or natural surface runway which has a central sealed surface,
the unsealed surface should be the determining surface.
73.3 Graded Runway Strip
73.3.1 Except as otherwise authorised in writing by the CASA, the minimum
width of a graded runway strip shall be:
a. Code 4 runway . . . . 150M
b. Code 3 runway . . . . 90M
c. Code 2 runway . . . . 80M
