MAINTENANCE (M)
To visually check associated control surface movement:
WARNING: ENSURE PERSONNEL AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF ALL CONTROL SURFACES TO PREVENT INJURY OR DAMAGE.
1. Establish communications - flight deck to ground or an observer.
2. Pressurize all hydraulic systems (Engines or Electrically Driven, Hydraulic Pumps running).
3. Perform the following procedures:
Flight Deck Ground Observation
Control Wheel Full Left a. Observe that five left wing spoilers extend.
NOTE: Spoilers 1, 2, 3, and 5 will extend approximately 45°. Spoiler 6 will extend approximately 30°.
b. Observe left aileron up, right aileron down. NOTE: Ailerons move up 20° and down 20°.
Control Wheel Full Right a. Observe that five right wing spoilers extend (as above).
b. Observe right aileron up, left aileron down (as above).
Control Column Full Aft, then Full Forward
Push Pedals for Full Left Rudder, then Full Right Rudder Observe both elevators up, then down.
NOTE: Elevator deflection will be trailing edge approximately 30° up and 20° down.
Observe rudder moves left, then right.
NOTE: Rudder deflection will be approximately 30° left or right.
