B. If manual (MAN) mode (item 21-31-2) or Outflow valve (item 21-31-3) is inoperative:
1) Open and collar CABIN ALT/PRESS MAN (CABIN ALTITUDE CONTROL MANUAL) circuit breaker on P11 panel.
2) Open aft cargo door and remove aft endliner.
3) Disconnect outflow valve actuator connecting rod from actuator drive arm and valve linkage (Fig. 1B). Stow connecting rod.
4) Remove connecting pin from outflow valve hold open tool (Ref. Boeing drawing A21008). Install tool halves to outflow valve linkage and to surrounding structure.
5) Adjust rod end of hold open tool until distance between outflow valve flappers is 1.5 ± 0.1 inches (Fig. 1B) when tool is connected. Install connecting pin in hold open tool. Lockwire valve attach bolt and thumbscrew.
6) Install cargo compartment endliner panel and close aft cargo door.
2. Open and collar the AUTO 1 - CABIN ALT/PRESS (CABIN ALTITUDE CONTROL AUTO 1) and AUTO
2 - CABIN ALT/PRESS (CABIN ALTITUDE CONTROL AUTO 2) circuit breakers on the P11 panel.
3. Place mode selector in either AUTO 1 or AUTO 2.
4. Block one vacuum pressure relief door valve open to approximately 15° by using Boeing supplied vacuum pressure relief valve hold open tool B21001 or equivalent (see Figure 2)
5. Notify dispatch that for passenger and combi configurations lower lobe cargo compartments must remain empty per MEL restriction and for all airplanes flight will be unpressurized.

OPERATIONS (O)
For unpressurized flight:
1. Single Pack operations required for all phases of the flight.
2. With passengers on board, enroute altitude must be limited to 10,000 feet.
3. To avoid passenger discomfort after takeoff obstacle clearance has been assured, airplane climb and descent rates should not exceed 500 feet per minute.
4. If MAN mode operates normally, extended overwater flight may be conducted. Flight crew should not change outflow valve position with manual control except as required for non-normal procedures. If MAN mode does not operate normally, extended overwater flight is prohibited.
The associated Compartment must remain empty or contain only ballast, empty cargo handling equipment (ballast may be loaded in ULDs (Unit Load Device)), or Flight Kits. The content of a Flight Kit is defined in B757 Technical File. Materials to be used as ballast shall be non-combustible (see MEL Preamble).
