MEL Item This column lists the appropriate MEL item(s) to consult for possible dispatch relief with the
associated message displayed. EICAS messages that do not have a specific MEL item to
allow dispatch are listed with one of the following cross references:

EICAS Messages
The Engine Indicating and Crew Alerting System (EICAS) provides displays of engine parameters, crew alerting messages for non-normal conditions, and systems status and maintenance data. EICAS messages are divided into the following categories:
Warning The highest priority Alert message, displayed in red at the top of the message list. Accompanied
by red Master Warning Light and aural alert (bell, siren, or voice). Immediate crew action is required.
Caution Displayed in amber below Warning level messages, accompanied by amber Master Caution
Light and aural alert (beeper or voice). Immediate crew awareness and future crew action required.
Advisory The lowest priority Alert message, also displayed in amber, below any Caution level messages
and indented one space to the right. Crew awareness and possible future crew action required.
Comm E Medium-priority communication requiring immediate crew awareness and a prompt response.
Displayed in white text with a bullet at the bottom of the message field, these messages are accompanied by an aural chime.
Comm F Low-priority communication requiring timely awareness and response. Also displayed in white
text with a bullet, these messages are below the comm E messages and indented one space to the right.
Status White messages displayed on secondary EICAS. System conditions exist which may require
action.
Maintenance White message displayed on ECS/MSG page of EICAS, for use of maintenance personnel.

EEC Maintenance
White message displayed on EPCS page, PW engine-related maintenance only. Maintenance Level Messages
Maintenance level messages are not included in the Cross Reference List, since they do not affect the airworthiness release of the airplane. Any system faults that result only in a maintenance message do not require MEL consideration or maintenance action prior to dispatch. They are addressed within an operator’s standard maintenance program.
