breakers or positioning switches is required, the following procedure will be adhered to.
Any item deferred using this procedure must be handled per established UTAIR maintenance procedures at the next UTAIR maintenance station with no exemptions.
 
  BOEING 757-200 Minimum Equipment List (MEL)

Upon notification of a maintenance problem, Maintenance Control's responsibilities are as outlined below:
A. Determine what the specific problem or problems are, by debriefing the Captain or his designated representative or if possible, have a copy of the log page(s) faxed, sent by SITA or mobile wireless protocol to Maintenance Control for evaluation.
B. Maintenance Control will review the MEL/CDL to ensure that no maintenance action is required prior to release of the aircraft other then pulling circuit breakers or positioning switches.
С. If required by the MEL/CDL, the System Dispatcher for the flight will be contacted for approval and to amend the flight release prior to aircraft departure.
D. The Maintenance Controller will send a message to the departure station authorizing the item(s) to be deferred. This will provide authorization to continue the flight or series of flights to the next UTAIR maintenance station. The next UTAIR maintenance station should also be addressed in the message.
E. The Maintenance Controller will contact the down line UTAIR maintenance station by phone or message or both, explaining what item(s) were deferred, what corrective action will be necessary, and to enter the deferral information into log page(s) in accordance with UTAIR established procedure.
4. MAINTENANCE ACTION
Every effort shall be made by maintenance to correct all technical irregularities as early as practicable and that the airplane be released from maintenance base in fully operational condition. The decision of the captain to comply with the appropriate MEL requirement and to postpone maintenance activity will supersede any other intention. The captain must be informed by maintenance as soon as practicable, should it be impossible to repair the inoperative item prior to departure.
If any of the aircraft instruments, equipment or system repeatedly fails during the first four flights after rectification, MEL item will be applied once again only in order to return an aircraft to base station or to the station where any approved maintenance organization is available.
NOTE: The provisions of the MEL are applicable until the airplane commences the flight. Failures occurred after the entry doors have been closed shall be carefully assessed by the flight crew taking into account the MEL and all other relevant factors related to the intended flight.

  BOEING 757-200 Minimum Equipment List (MEL)

Whenever an airplane is released by maintenance for dispatch with items inoperative, the following is required:
The Differed Item Report book (DIR) aboard the airplane must contain a detailed description of the inoperative item(s), special advice to the flight crew if necessary, and information about corrective action taken.
