WHL WELL FIRE light deactivated - WHL WELL FIRE LIGHT INOP MAINTENANCE (M)
1. Check wheel brake temperature:
A. Brakes must be checked for coolness (when hand can be held on brake housing) prior to engine start.
B. Inform dispatch - flight planning may be affected.
2. If the wheel well detection sensor(s) are failed closed, the EICAS warning message WHEEL WELL FIRE and the WHEEL WELL FIRE light may be deactivated.
A. To deactivate the EICAS warning message WHEEL WELL FIRE and WHEEL WELL FIRE light, open and collar the W/W FIRE DET Circuit Breaker on the P11 Panel.
NOTE: The Center Panel FIRE Light and First Officer’s Panel WHEEL WELL FIRE light will extinguish, The FIRE light will continue to operate normally for engine fire and overheat detection.

Airplane flight log as appropriate - DUCT LEAK DET LOOP/TEST INOP MAINTENANCE (M)
1. Verify that the detection loop(s) operate normally by using a heat source of approximately 127° C to heat a section of the detector element (loops are accessible through the respective ECS bay). The required substitute test heat device must not produce heat greater than 232° C. This temperature limit should be observed in the event that fuel vapors exist in this area.
2. If an appropriate heat source is not available, detection loop(s) may be verified operative as follows:
A. Gain access to the Duct Leak and Wheel Well Fire Control Card M691 on the Electrical System Card File P50 in the Main Equipment Center.
B. Momentarily press MEM READ pushbutton.
C. Record fault code (if any) until code 97 (memory read complete) appears.
D. The following can be used to decipher the MEM READ two digit (XY) code.
X = 1 Left Wing Leading Edge X = 2 Left A/C Pack Bay
X = 3 Wheel Well ECS X = 4 Aft Cargo Section 46
X = 5 Aft Bulkhead Section 48 X = 6 Right Wing Leading Edge
X = 7 Right A/C Pack Bay Y = 0 Short Loop A
Y = 1 Short Loop B Y = 2 Open Loop A
Y = 3 Open Loop B
E. The above XY codes indicate a defective element. Ensure at least one loop (A or B) is operative for each of the above (X) zones.
F. XY codes other than those listed above require more maintenance. Consult MM/FIM 26-18-00.
