B757 - 200 MINIMUM EQUIPMENT LIST
OPERATIONS (O)
The associated compartment must remain empty or contain only ballast, empty cargo handling equipment (ballast may be loaded in ULDs (Unit Load Device)), or Flight Kits. The content of a Flight Kit is defined in B757 Technical File. Materials to be used as ballast shall be non-combustible (see MEL Preamble).
With extinguisher bottle #2 inoperative, the Lower Cargo Fire Procedures in the QRH are unchanged. When using the Cargo Fire Procedures described in QRH NNC.8 with the #2 Fire Extinguisher bottle inoperative, the fire suppressing capability of the system is reduced to EIGHTY MINUTES.

MAINTENANCE NOTE
1. Stow the out-of-service extinguisher in a place (possibly in a bag) where it will not be used by mistake, until it can be removed from the airplane at the next available maintenance base.
2. Ensure required distribution of serviceable extinguishers is maintained throughout the airplane.

1. If the lavatory smoke detector system does not operate normally:
A. Check that the lavatory waste receptacle is empty.
B. For associated lavatory(s):
1) Close and lock lavatory door.
2) Placard the door: INOPERATIVE - DO NOT ENTER. OPERATIONS (O)
If lavatory smoke detector system does not operate normally, ensure that the associated lavatory door remains locked and is not entered except for use or inspection by crewmembers.

To deactivated an inoperative valve in the open position, open and collar the FLT CONT S/O TAIL L/C/R as appropriate for the affected valve.
WARNING: ENSURE PERSONNEL AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF ALL CONTROL SURFACES TO PREVENT INJURY OR DAMAGE.
Verify associated valve (s) is open by pressurizing the appropriate hydraulic system and displacing control column or control wheel, as appropriate, while observing flight control deflection on EICAS.
