B. Installation of the NLG Wheel CAUTION : MAKE SURE THAT THE GREASE USED FOR THE AXLE SLEEVE IS THE SAME
_______ AS THE GREASE USED FOR THE BEARINGS (CONE AND CAGE). IF YOU USE A DIFFERENT GREASE, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE BEARINGS.
(1) Preparation for installation
(a)
Make sure (if the tire mixability is not allowed) that the wheel for installation has the same type of tire (radial cross-ply) as the other wheel on the NLG.
(b)
Make sure that the retaining ring (19) is in its housing.
(c)
Clean the axle sleeve (1) and the drive dog (13) with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-002). Dry them with filtered compressed air.
(d)
Make sure that the axle sleeve (1) is in the correct condition. NOTE : Do not mix material 04-022 with material 04-035. You can
____ use material 04-035 as an alternative to material 04-022. Clean and degrease the parts before you use material 04-035.
(e)
Apply a light coat of COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-022) or COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-035) on the axle sleeve (1), on the drive dog (13).
(f)
Apply a thin layer of COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-022) or COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-035) to the shaft (2).
(g)
Install the new preformed packings (3) on the shaft (2).
(h)
Make sure that the preformed packings (3) are in the correct position on the shaft (2).
