(1) Make sure that the warning notices are in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system: - on the panel 40VU in the cockpit, - on the ground service panel of the Green hydraulic system.

D. Preparation of the Replacement Component
(1)
Remove the unions (4) and (7) from the removed vent valve (12).
(2)
Remove and discard the packings (5) and (6).
(3)
Remove and discard the cotter pin (16).

(4) Remove the nut (15), the washer (14), the bolt (13), and the lever (17) from the splined shaft of the vent valve (12).
WARNING : MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS A GOOD FLOW OF AIR THROUGH THE WORK_______ AREA WHEN YOU USE SPECIAL MATERIALS. IF YOU GET ONE OF THESE MATERIALS ON YOUR SKIN, IN YOUR MOUTH OR IN YOUR EYES : -FLUSH IT AWAY WITH A FLOW OF CLEAN WATER FOR BETWEEN 10 AND 15 MINUTES. -GET IMMEDIATE MEDICAL AID IF IRRITATION OCCURS. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM THE MATERIAL. DO NOT SMOKE WHEN YOU USE THE MATERIAL. DO NOT USE THE MATERIAL NEAR A FLAME, SPARKS OR SOURCES OF HEAT. THESE MATERIALS ARE DANGEROUS : THEY ARE POISONOUS, FLAMMABLE AND SKIN IRRITANTS.
WARNING : OBEY THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS WHEN YOU USE THE_______ SPECIAL MATERIAL. THIS MATERIAL IS DANGEROUS.
(a) Apply SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-002) to the splined shaft of the new vent valve (12) and the bolt (13).
(b) Align the master splines and install the lever (17) on the splined shaft of the new vent valve (12).
(c) Install the bolt (13), the washer (14) and the nut (15).
(d) Safety the nut (15) with a new cotter pin (16).
(e) Apply corrosion protection to the nut (15), the bolt (13) and the adjacent areas (Ref. TASK 51-75-13-916-002).
R R R R (f) Apply HYDRAULIC FLUIDS (Material No. 02-003), HYDRAULIC FLUIDS (Material No. 02-003A), HYDRAULIC FLUIDS (Material No. 02-003B), HYDRAULIC FLUIDS (Material No. 02-003C) or HYDRAULIC FLUIDS (Material No. 02-003D) to the threads of the unions (4) and (7).

Apply HYDRAULIC FLUIDS (Material No. 02-003), HYDRAULIC FLUIDS (Material No. 02-003A), HYDRAULIC FLUIDS (Material No. 02-003B), HYDRAULIC FLUIDS (Material No. 02-003C) or HYDRAULIC FLUIDS (Material No. 02-003D) the new packings (6).
(i)
Put the packing (5) on the union (4) and the packings (6) on the unions (7).
(j)
Remove the blanking plugs from the new vent valve (12).
(k)
Install the unions (4) and (7) in the vent valve (12).
(l)
TORQUE the union (4) to between 1.76 and 1.88 m.daN (12.97 and
13.86 lbf.ft).
(m)
TORQUE the unions (7) to between 3.19 and 3.47 m.daN (23.52 and
25.58 lbf.ft).
(n)
Put the blanking plugs on the unions (4) and (7) if you do not install the vent valve (12) immediately.
