(3) Fully deflate the tire. NOTE : If you must remove the wheel for access it is not necessary to

deflate the tire if:
-
the tire is in the correct condition and
-
the tire pressure is in the Normal Operating Range (Ref. TASK 32-41-00-210-003). If you have not these two conditions you must deflate the tire.

A. Preparation of the Wheel before Removal
(1)
Remove the fan:
(a)
Release the tab-washers (14).
(b)
Loosen the screw (15).
(c)
Remove and discard the tab-washers (14).
(d)
Remove the debris guard (16) along the centerline of the wheel axle to prevent damage to the drive shaft of the tachometer (22).
(e)
Remove the shroud (12).
(f)
Remove the impeller (13)
-Remove the lockwire from the nut (18) and discard it.
-Lock the impeller (13) with DISASSEMBLY TOOL (MG174-04).
-Remove the nut (18), the washer (19) and the impeller (13).
(2)
Remove the joint:
(a)
Loosen the screw (20). Remove the clamp (9).
(b)
Remove the joint (10).

B. Removal of the Wheel WARNING : BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE/INSTALL THE WHEEL AND TIRE ASSEMBLY
_______ TO PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE WHEEL, AXLE OR OTHER EQUIPMENT. THE ASSEMBLY IS VERY HEAVY (BETWEEN 130 KG AND 200 KG (290 LBS AND 440 LBS)).
CAUTION : MAKE SURE THAT THE AXLE THREAD PROTECTOR IS CORRECTLY INSTALLED
_______ ON THE AXLE. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AXLE SLEEVE WHEN YOU REMOVE/INSTALL A WHEEL IF THE AXLE THREAD PROTECTOR IS: -NOT USED. -NOT FULLY ENGAGED ON THE AXLE.
(1)
Remove and discard the cotter pins (4).
(2)
Remove the nuts (5), the washer (6) and the bolts (8).
(3)
Remove the axle nut (7) with the TORQUE ADAPTOR (460007230).
(4)
Install the PROTECTOR (Q47316).
(5)
Apply a thin layer of COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-022) on the axle protector.
(6)
Remove the wheel (1).
