(d) Make sure that there is a clearance of 0.5 mm (0.0196 in.) and
3.0 mm (0.1181 in.) between the intermediate fairing (5) and the front fairing (8). If necessary, cut and de-burr the overlap at the rear of the front fairing (8) to get the correct dimension.
(e)
Install the assembly with the bolts (9).
(f)
TORQUE tighten the bolts (9) to 1.13 m.daN (99.99 lbf.in).

C. Installation of the Outboard Fuel Pump Fairing
NOTE : Install the outboard fuel pump fairing in this sequence:
____
-
the intermediate fairing (17)
-
the rear fairing (16)
-the front fairing (20) and the cover plate (22) assembly. NOTE : Sealant is not used between the fairings (20), (17) and (16) and
____
the lower wing skin.
(1)
Before you install the fairings, make sure that the length of the harness (25) is correct. Measure the distance between the front face of the connector (36) and the forward edge of the guide (30). The correct length of the outboard harness should be 1345 mm (52.9527 in.).
(2)
If necessary, adjust the length of the harness (25) as follows:
(a)
Loosen the nuts (31), the bolts (32) and the clamp (33) on the bracket (34) and the guide (30).
(b)
Carefully move the harness (25) through the guide (30), the clamp
(33)
and the conduit (35) to get the correct length.
(3)
Install the intermediate fairing (17) as follows:
(a)
Hold the intermediate fairing (17) in position near the lower wing skin.
(b)
Carefully push the harness (25) into the retention channel inside the intermediate fairing (17).
(c)
Make sure that the harness (25) is held correctly below the lips of the retention channel in the intermediate fairing (17).
NOTE : Make sure that the harness (25) is not in tension.
____
(d) Engage the key-hole slots in the intermediate fairing (17) with the wing skin bolts.
R 1EFF : 001-049, 051-099, 101-105, 151-199, 1 28-21-49Page 449 1201-227, 1May 01/05 1 1 1CES 1
(e)
Move the intermediate fairing (17) forward to engage the bolts fully.
(f)
Make sure that the harness (25) is not caught between:
-
the key-hole slot positions on the intermediate fairing (17) and the wing skin
-
the edge of the intermediate fairing (17) and the wing skin.
(4) Install the rear fairing (16) as follows:
(a)
Make sure that the intermediate fairing (17) is correctly
installed and pushed tightly against its stop.
(b)
Hold the rear fairing (16) in position near the lower wing skin.
(c)
Carefully push the harness (25) into the retention channel inside the rear fairing (16).
(d)
Make sure that the harness (25) is held correctly below the lips of the retention channel in the rear fairing (16).
NOTE : Make sure that the harness (25) is not in tension.
____
(e)
Pull the harness (25) lightly in a rearwards direction. If necessary, push unwanted harness up through the guide (30) and the clamp (33) into the conduit (35).
(f)
Engage the key-hole slots in the rear fairing (16) with the wing skin bolts.
(g)
Move the rear fairing (16) forward to engage the bolts fully.
(h)
Make sure that the:
-forward end of the rear fairing (16) goes inside the intermediate fairing (17) (out-of-wind)
