B. Installation of the Fuel Pump Strainer
(1)
Put the strainer (15) in position on the bracket (10) and install the bolts (9).
(2)
Install a new O-ring (2) on the fuel pipe (1).
(3)
Install the nut (4) and the retaining ring (3) on the fuel pipe (1).
(4)
Install the filter connector (5) on the strainer (15) with the bolts (6).
(5)
Install the fuel pipe (1) in the filter connector (5). Tighten the nut (4) onto the filter connector (5) to keep the fuel pipe (1) in position.
(6)
Position the cowls (12) and (7) on the bracket (10) and install the three bolts (13).
(7)
Install the two bolts (8).
(8)
Position the bonding tab (11) on the cowl (12) and install the bolt
(14) (Ref. TASK 20-28-00-912-002).

(9) Apply SEALANTS (Material No. 09-001) to the bolts (6), (8), (9) and (13).

Remove the applicable tool HOOK-COVER (RIB 2 SURGE DOORS) (98D57004013000) or HOOK-COVER (RIB2-SURGE DOORS) (98D57004014000).
(3)
Close the applicable fuel-surge access door 540AZ, 640AZ, 540BZ, 640BZ.
(4)
Install the applicable access panel 540AB, 640AB (Ref. TASK 28-10-00-910-002) (Ref. TASK 57-27-11-400-001).

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit

APU FUEL PUMP SYSTEM - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

General
_______ The APU fuel pump system supplies the necessary fuel to operate the APU in all operation conditions. The APU fuel supply is tapped from the engine feed line. The fuel pressure for the APU comes from either the engine fuel pumps or the APU fuel pump. To prevent draining the cross feed line when you remove the APU fuel pump, the pump is mounted in a cannister.

3. System Description
__________________ (Ref. Fig. 003) The APU usually takes its fuel supply from the LH engine-feed line, but when the cross-feed valve is open, the RH engine-feed line can also supply the APU with fuel. Normally, the necessary fuel pressure is achieved by the main-engine fuel pumps. The fuel pressure is monitored by the APU fuel-pressure switch 7QC. If the fuel pressure in the APU fuel line drops below 1.5 bar (22 PSI), the APU fuel pressure switch energizes the APU fuel pump to ensure a stable fuel supply to the APU.
