B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1)
Make sure that the applicable fuel tank is defueled (Ref. TASK 28-25-00-650-001) .
(2)
Make sure that the remaining fuel has been drained from the applicable fuel tank (Ref. TASK 28-25-00-650-003).
(3)
Make sure that the access platform is below the applicable access panel 540CB(640CB).
(4)
Make sure that the applicable access panel 540CB(640CB) is removed (Ref. TASK 28-10-00-910-002), (Ref. TASK 57-27-11-000-001).
(5)
Make sure that the container is below the applicable air release valve.

A. Preparation for Installation WARNING : USE SOLVENTS/CLEANING AGENTS, SEALANTS AND OTHER SPECIAL
_______ MATERIALS ONLY WITH A GOOD SUPPLY OF AIR. OBEY THE MANUFACTURERS INSTRUCTIONS. PUT ON PROTECTIVE CLOTHING. DO NOT GET THEM IN YOUR MOUTH. DO NOT SMOKE. DO NOT BREATHE THE GAS. THESE MATERIALS ARE POISONOUS, FLAMMABLE AND SKIN IRRITANT. GET MEDICAL HELP IF YOUR SKIN OR EYES BECOME IRRITATED.
(1)
Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent areas with a MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003) made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-026).
(2)
Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(3)
Do an inspection of the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
(4)
Lubricate the new O-ring (2) with FUELS (Material No. 01-001) or COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-012).

B. Installation of the Air Release Valve 86QM(87QM)
(1)
Install the O-ring (2) in the groove on the LP air release valve (1).
(2)
Remove the blanking cap from the RIB 8 connector.
(3)
Install the LP air release valve (1) with the bolts (3) and the bolt (4).
(4)
Apply SEALANTS (Material No. 09-002) to the ends of the bolts (3) and (4).

C. Preparation For Test
(1)
Make sure that the opposite fuel tank (to that in which you installed the LP air release valve) or center fuel tank contains sufficient fuel for the test. If necessary, refuel the opposite fuel tank or the center fuel tank (Ref. TASK 12-11-28-650-004).
(2)
Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
NOTE : Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized
____ only for the test that follows. As soon as the test is completed, you must immediately de-energize the aircraft electrical circuits.
(3) On the panel 40VU:
(a) If fuel is used in the opposite wing tank:
-
push in the XFEED pushbutton switch (P/BSW) and make sure that the XFEED P/BSW OPEN and ON lights come on
-
push in the TK PUMP P/BSW for the tank that contains the fuel and make sure that the applicable P/BSW OFF light goes off.
(b) If fuel is used from the center tank:
-push in the TK PUMP P/BSW for the center tank pump and make sure that the applicable P/BSW OFF light goes off.

C. Preparation For Test
(1)
Make sure that the opposite fuel tank (to that in which you installed the LP air release valve) contains sufficient fuel for the test. If necessary, refuel the opposite fuel tank (Ref. TASK 12-11-28-650-004).
(2)
Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
