EFB: 2007 Industry Review
Executive Summary
This document provides an overview of Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) capabilities, capturing the state of the
EFB industry as of March 2007. It will be useful to anyone interested in the EFB market, including the
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), customers, operators, manufacturers, and researchers. This
document is an update to the April 2005 Volpe Center EFB Industry Review (Yeh and Chandra, 2005).
The document consists of three main sections. The first section contains a brief review of EFB research
conducted by the Volpe Center over the past several years. The second section contains descriptions of
products from EFB system providers and integrators. The material in this section was gathered through
collaboration with industry and from information provided at demonstrations and in websites, brochures,
and trade journal reports. A general picture of the product lines is provided, with an emphasis on the user
interface. Information on FAA approvals received or in progress is also included. The third section lists
EFB software providers. References to both policy and research documents are included at the end of this
document.
