Designed for mechanics, technicians and propulsion engineers
responsible for engine testing and analysis. Students will develop
the skills necessary to perform test procedures, monitor
performance and evaluate engine condition. Practical experience
will be gained using test logs and data to monitor performance
and to troubleshoot engines.
Compressor Blade Blending
ATA Level: IV Class Size: 2 to 3 (3 Days); 4 (4 Days)
Course Code: 117 (5th through 15th stage)
Provides important hands-on experience required to develop
necessary investigative and interpretative skills while using
specialized equipment to detect, interpret, evaluate and repair
damage in the compressor gaspath. Customer must supply
blade-blending equipment required for the training. Requires
Pratt & Whitney source approval.

Provides an introduction to engine design features and an
overview of systems, performance and ground operations.
Line and Base Maintenance (5 days)
Class Size: 12 Course Code: 7003
Designed for technicians responsible for performing line and
base maintenance. Provides knowledge and understanding of
engine design features, line replacement unit (LRU) identification,
engine operation, systems operation and rigging and inspection.
Borescope Inspection Procedures (3 Days)
Class Size: 6 Course Code: 7002
Designed for technicians responsible for performing borescope
inspection of the engine gaspath condition. The course
consists primarily of practical exercises using borescope
equipment, a training engine, mockups and worksheets to
develop critical investigative and interpretive skills.
Engine Blade Blending (1 day)
Class Size: 2 to 6 Course Code: 7004
Provides general knowledge of inspections and blending
techniques for Pratt & Whitney military engine blades. The course
consists of support equipment identification, definition of blade
damage and proper inspection and blending techniques.
F117 Engine Series Courses
Military training programs are restricted to audiences using and/or supporting the military product and meeting U.S.
Department of Defense export/licensing requirements. Attendance at military training programs requires the appropriate
sponsorship of the Pratt & Whitney customer Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) manager or the United States Air Force (USAF).
All training courses listed are based on six hours of actual instruction per day unless otherwise noted.

general principles about military engine construction features and
systems design. This course will prepare the student for all
