Install the fan exit case flange (37C) as follows: 1) Install the fan exit case flange (37C) to connect with the intermediate case.


 2)  Install the one key (38) at each end of the fan exit case flange (37C) in the lugs of the struts of the intermediate case. a) Select the correct class of key which will make sure
 there is no empty space between the key (38) and the intermediate case. 3) Bend the keys (38), as shown, to attach the fan exit case flange (37C).

(c)  Apply sealant to the clearance between the fan exit case flange (37C) and the platforms of struts five and six as follows: 1) With a piece of clean cheesecloth that is moist with
 alcohol, clean the area where you will put sealant. 2) Dry the surfaces fully in air at approximately 21°C. 3) Apply the red or gray sealant as shown. 4) Cure the sealant in air at approximately 21°C, and at a
 relative humidity of 25%, minimum. 5) Cure the sealant at the ends of the fan exit case flange (37C) for eight hours before you operate the engine. 6) Cure the sealant at the struts for at least two hours, and until no longer tacky, before you operate the engine.

 (4)  
Connect the drive shaft (20) and drive shaft housing (5) to the angle gearbox (11) as follows (Fig. 401):

 (a)  
Lubricate the drive shaft (20) splines with engine oil.

 (b)  
Move the drive shaft (20) forward to engage the mating splines of the drive shaft (20) and the angle gearbox (11).

 (c)  
If the splines do not engage, turn the gearshaft in the main gearbox as follows:

CAUTION: DO NOT REMOVE THE BEARING HOUSING ASSEMBLY OF THE
_______ SCAVENGE PUMP DRIVE. THE INSTALLATION OF THE BEARING HOUSING ASSEMBLY IS VERY DIFFICULT AND CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE BEARINGS.
 1) Remove the two bolts and washers that attach the cover (manual crank) to the main gearbox. 2) Remove the manual crank cover with the PWA 85768 puller.
 a) Discard the packing. 3) With a standard wrench, turn the gearshaft that is inside. 4) Engage the mating splines of the driveshaft (20) and the
 angle gearbox (11). 5) Lubricate a new packing with engine oil. 6) Install the lubricated packing on the manual crank cover. 7) Lubricate two bolts with antigalling compound. 8) Attach manual crank cover to the main gearbox with two
 washers and the two bolts. a) Tighten the bolts to 62-72 pound-inches (7.005-8.135 newton-meters).
 (d)  
Install the drive shaft snap ring (21) in the angle gearbox to keep the drive shaft (20) in position.

 (e)  
Lubricate the threads of six nuts (25) with antigalling
 compound.


 (f)  
Attach the drive shaft housing (5) and brackets (7, 8, 9, 13, and 19) to the angle gearbox (11), with the six bolts (22) (boltheads aft), 10 washers (24), and six nuts (25). 1) Align the bolt holes on the brackets (8, and 9) with the


 applicable holes on the HPC.
 2) Tighten the bolts (22) with your hand.

For engines with the bracket attached to the top left of the angle gearbox (ENGINES POST-PW-SB 75-45), do the steps that follow:

 (a)  
Lubricate the threads of two bolts (48) with engine oil.

 (b)  
Install the clamps, bolts (48) and nuts (not shown) that attach the hydraulic manifold for the compressor stator cylinder and the oil cooler inlet return manifold (lower). 1) Tighten the clamp bolts (48) to 36-40 pound-inches


 (4.067-4.519 newton-meters).

Attach the brackets (8, and 9) (which are attached to the drive shaft housing (5)) to the HPC as follows:

 (a)  
Lubricate with engine oil the threads of four bolts (1).
