E. Procedure

(1)
Do the steps that follow to install the EDP oil seal (Fig. 401):
(a)
Remove the dust cap from the engine gearbox.
(b)
Lubricate the new packing with engine oil. 1) Install the packing in the groove of the EDP oil seal.
(c)
Lubricate the mating (carbon) surface of the EDP oil seal with engine oil. 1) Install the EDP oil seal on the end of the gear shaft.
(d)
Install the retaining ring in the groove in the gearbox housing.

(2) Install the EDP (AMM 29-11-05/401).

(3) Close the right thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).

(5) S 444-024-N00Do the activation procedure for the thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).
(6) S 414-026-N00Close the right fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-04/201).
(7) S 714-025-N00Do the test for the accessory drive seals that is shown in the Power Plant Test Reference Table (AMM 71-00-00/501).

STARTER DRIVE COUPLING - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

A. This procedure gives the steps to remove and install the starter drive coupling.
B. This coupling is found on the aft side of the main gearbox at the 5 o'clock position.
C. You must open the thrust reverser halves and remove the starter to get access to the coupling.
