Remove the starter (AMM 80-11-01/401).

Remove the retaining ring that attaches the oil seal to the space in the starter drive pad.

Install PWA 85204 or PWA 88110 puller to the seal housing.

Move the puller ring down until the jaws are engaged into the groove.

(8) Remove the oil seal from the starter drive pad with a slide hammer action of the puller.
NOTE: This slide hammer action will cause a larger force than the

preformed packing.

Disengage the puller from the oil seal.

Discard the packing.

(10) Install a cover on the opening in the starter drive pad.
