(1)
Remove the cover from the opening on the IDG drive pad.

(2)
Lubricate a new preformed packing with engine oil.

Put the lubricated packing in the groove of the IDG oil seal.

Lubricate the mating (carbon) surface of the face seal with engine oil.

(4)
Install the IDG oil seal into the IDG pad, over the end of the gearshaft.
NOTE: The IDG oil seal will be against the flange of the gear.

EEC ALTERNATOR DRIVE OIL SEAL - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General
_______
A. The procedure that follows gives the steps for the removal and the installation of the electronic engine control (EEC) alternator drive oil seal. In this procedure, the EEC alternator drive oil seal will be referred to as the alternator oil seal.
B. The alternator oil seal is installed in the space in the EEC alternator drive pad on the main gearbox aft face at the 6 o'clock position.
C. You can open the thrust reverser halves and remove the EEC alternator to get access to the alternator oil seal.
