Do a check of the clearance between the face of the alternator oil seal and the EEC alternator housing.
(a)
Make sure that the clearance is in the limits that are shown in the table that follows.

E. Install the EEC Alternator Drive Oil Seal

(1)
Remove the cover from gearshaft housing of the EEC alternator.
S 434-012-N00
(2)
If the seal seat was removed or replaced, install it as follows:
(a)
Install the seal seat, with the smaller outer diameter side pointed inward, over the stud (threaded) end of the EEC alternator gearshaft.
(b)
Lubricate the packing with engine oil.
(c)
Install the packing in the groove on the EEC alternator gearshaft.
(d)
Install the sleeve spacer on the gearshaft packing, which is on the gearshaft.

Lubricate a new preformed packing with engine oil.
(a)
Put this packing in the groove of the alternator oil seal.

Lubricate the mating (carbon) surface of the face of the alternator oil seal with engine oil.

Push the alternator oil seal on the stud (threaded) end of the gearshaft until it is against the seal seat.

Install the retaining ring in the groove in the gearbox housing to hold the alternator oil seal.

Install the EEC alternator rotor and stator (AMM 73-21-05/401).

WARNING: OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS IN AMM 78-31-00 WHEN YOU CLOSE THE THRUST
_______ REVERSERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS, INJURIES TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(8) Close the thrust reversers (AMM 78-31-00/201).
