E. Procedure

(1)
Do the steps that follow to remove the seal (Fig. 401).
(a)
Remove the fuel pump and the fuel metering unit (AMM 73-11-01/401).
(b)
Remove the retaining ring that attaches the seal to the fuel pump pad.

(2)
Install PWA 85204 or PWA 88110 puller to the seal housing.
(a)
Engage the puller jaws in the puller groove on the seal housing.
(b)
Move the puller ring until the jaws are attached to the groove.

(3) With a slide hammer motion of the puller, remove the oil seal from the drive pad of the fuel pump.
NOTE: This slide hammer motion makes a stronger force than the

preformed packing.

Disengage the puller from the seal.

Discard the preformed packing.

(6)
Install a cover on the fuel drive pad on the main gearbox.
