2)  Remove the bolt (15) and nut (14) which attach the scavenge tube clamp to the bracket.
 NOTE: This bracket is on the right side of the housing (5)
____ of the horizontal drive shaft at approximately the
 6:00 o'clock position.
 3)  Remove the bolts (15) and nuts (14) which attach the scavenge tube clamps, at four locations, to the wire bundle clamps on the No. 3, bearing oil temperature, thermocouple probe.
 4)  Remove the bolt (15) and nut (14) which attach the scavenge tube clamp to the clamp on the No. 1, 1.5, and 2 bearing oil scavenge tube.
 5)  Remove the two bolts (17) which attach the scavenge tube to the pump port for the lubrication and scavenge oil.
 6)  Remove the scavenge tube (6) for the angle gearbox from the engine.
 7)  Remove and discard the packings (16) from both ends of the tube (6).
 8)  Put caps on the ends of the tube.
 (k)  
Remove the two bolts (1) which attach the bracket (8) to the HPC forward case at approximately the 11:00 o'clock position.

 (l)  
Remove the two bolts (1) which attach the bracket (9) to the HPC forward case at approximately the 1:00 o'clock position.

 (m)  
ENGINES WITH A BRACKET ON THE TOP LEFT OF THE ANGLE GEARBOX (POST-PW-SB 75-45); Remove the two bolts (48) and the two nuts that hold the hydraulic pressure manifold (CP02) and the oil cooler inlet return manifold (CR04) to the bracket.


 (n) Disconnect the gearbox drive shaft and the front housing from the angle gearbox: 1) Put a 5 gallon (20 liter) container below the mating surfaces of the front housing and the angle gearbox. 2) Remove the bolts which connect the brackets (7, 8, 9, 13, and 19) on the front housing to the HPC. 3) Remove the nuts (25), washers (24), and bolts (22) which connect the front housing (5) of the horizontal drive shaft to the HPC. 4) Loosen the clamp bolt that attaches the main bearing oil-scavenge tube assembly (LR03) to the left bracket. a) Move the bracket out of the way. b) Use PWA 102830 Adapter to break loose the front and rear packings on the front housing. 5) Move the housing (5) of the horizontal drive shaft rearward to open the drive shaft connection. a) Discard the packing (26) from the housing.
 6)  Remove the retaining ring (21) which attaches the
 horizontal drive shaft (20) to the angle gearbox (11).
 7) Move the horizontal drive shaft (20) rearward.

 (2)  
Remove the liner segment as follows (Fig. 402):

 (a)  
Remove the fan exit liner segment (37A) at the 6 o'clock position (AMM 72-34-03/401).

 (b)  
Remove the fan exit case flange (37C) as follows: 1) Cut the sealant that is at the ends of the fan exit case flange (37C).


 2)  Bend the key (38) at each end of the fan exit case flange (37C). a) Remove and discard the keys (38).
 3)  Remove the fan exit case flange (37C) from the intermediate case.

 (3)  
Remove the angle gearbox as follows (Fig. 403):

 (a)  
Put the 5 gallon (18.9 L) container under the angle
 gearbox (11) to collect the remaining oil.


 (b)  
Remove the bolts (36), washers (24), and the cover (35) on the lower right side of the angle gearbox (11). 1) Discard the packing (34).

 (c)  
Remove the retaining ring (30) which attaches the plug (31) to the bottom of the angle gearbox (11).

 (d)  
Attach the PWA 85518 puller to the plug (31) under the angle gearbox (11).

 (e)  
Remove the plug (31).
 1) Discard the packing (32).


 (f)  
Remove the snap ring (33) that holds the tower shaft (29) in position.


 NOTE: The snap ring (33) is found inside the angle gearbox.

 (g)  
Remove the tower shaft (29).

 (h)  
ENGINES PRE-PW-SB 72-438; Remove the lockwire and bolts (28) that attach the angle gearbox (11) to the intermediate case.
