ALTERNATE NO. 1 BEARING (NOB) VIBRATION (FFCCV) SENSOR - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General
_______
 A.  This procedure has two tasks. The first task installs the alternate No. 1 bearing (NOB) vibration (FFCCV-Fan Frame Compressor Case Vertical) sensor on fan frame with CFMI SB 77-6. The second task removes the alternate No. 1 bearing (NOB) vibration (FFCCV-Fan Frame Compressor Case Vertical) sensor.
 (1)  
The alternate sensor kit is not installed on production engines. It may be installed on engines with a defective NOB vibration sensor without an engine removal.

 (2)  
The NOB vibration sensor is recommended because of its greater sensitivity. Use the alternate sensor only for the duration of the malfunction of the primary NOB vibration sensor.

 E.  Prepare for the Installation of the Alternate NOB Vibration (FFCCV) Sensor

 (1)  Open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag:
 (a)  P6 Load Control Center
 1) ENG VIBRATION MONITOR

 WARNING: DO THE DEACTIVATION PROCEDURE FOR THE THRUST REVERSER TO
_______ PREVENT THE OPERATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER. THE ACCIDENTAL OPERATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
 (2)  
Do the deactivation procedure for the thrust reverser for ground maintenance (AMM 78-31-00/201).

Open the fan cowl panels (AMM 71-11-02/201).

 WARNING: OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE PROCEDURE TO OPEN THE THRUST
_______ REVERSERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS WHEN YOU OPEN THE THRUST REVERSERS, INJURIES TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
 (4)  Open the thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).
 F.  Install the Alternate NOB Vibration (FFCCV) Sensor
 S 424-006-C00
 (1)  Do these steps to install the alternate NOB vibration (FFCCV) sensor (Fig. 401):
 (a)  
Find the pad on the aft side of fan frame that is directly below the NOB sensor connector.

 (b)  
Put the alternate vibration sensor on the pad. 1) The arrow on the sensor must point up.

 (c)  
Lubricate the two bolts with graphite grease.

 (d)  
Install the two bolts through the sensor.

 1)  Tighten the bolts to 100-110 pound-inches (11.5-12.5 N.m).

 (e)  
Disconnect the flex cable from the NOB vibration (fan) sensor.


 NOTE: The lead connector on the sensor is on the aft side of
____ the fan frame at the 3:00 o'clock position.
 1)  Install a protective cap on the engine connector.
 (f)  Connect the flex cable to the connector on the alternate sensor. 1) Tighten the connector.
