 D. Prepare to Remove the Lower EGT Harness and Probes

 (1)  AIRPLANES WITHOUT EIS; For the applicable engine, open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
 (a)  P6 Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel
 1) EGT IND ENG 1
 2) EGT IND ENG 2

 (2)  AIRPLANES WITH EIS; For the applicable engine, open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
 (a)  P6 Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel
 1) EIS PRI 2
 2) EIS PRI 4

 WARNING: DO THE DEACTIVATION PROCEDURE FOR THE THRUST REVERSER TO
_______ PREVENT THE OPERATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER. THE ACCIDENTAL OPERATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
 (3)  
Do the deactivation procedure for the thrust reverser for ground maintenance (AMM 78-31-00/201).

 (4)  
Open the fan cowl panels (AMM 71-11-02/201).

 WARNING: OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE PROCEDURE TO OPEN THE THRUST
_______ REVERSERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS WHEN YOU OPEN THE THRUST REVERSERS, INJURIES TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
 (5)  Open the thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).
 E. Remove the Lower EGT Harness and Probes

 CAUTION: DO NOT BEND OR MAKE A KINK IN THE EGT HARNESSES AND PROBES.
_______ YOU CAN EASILY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EGT HARNESSES AND PROBES.
 (1)  Do these steps to disconnect the harness (Fig. 404):
 (a)  
Remove the bolt and the clamp that attach the lower harness to the engine bracket.

 (b)  
Remove the bolt and the two clamps that attach the leads of the lower harnesses together and to the engine bracket.

 (c)  
Remove the two bolts and the two nuts that attach the lower junction box to the engine flange.

 (2)  Do these steps to disconnect the connector:
 (a)  
Disconnect the connector (on the lower extension harness) from the lower junction box with the fork wrench.

 (b)  
Put protective caps on the connector and the receptacle.

 (3)  Do these steps to remove the probes:
 (a)  
Remove two bolts that attach each probe to the engine boss.

 (b)  
ENGINES WITH EGT AIR DEFLECTORS; Remove the EGT air deflector from each probe.


 NOTE: A deflector is not installed at the No. 1 probe.
