 E.  AIRPLANES WITH EIS; The EGT indication on the EIS gives an abnormal start warning by flashing on and off two times a second. The EIS reads 5 signals (N2, EGT, Fuel Flow, Computed Airspeed, and Total Air Temperature) to show when the engine has an abnormal start (AMM 31-42-00/501).

EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE (EGT) INDICATION SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

 1. General
_______
 A. This procedure has two tasks:
 (1)  
The operational test of the EGT Indication System

 (2)  
The system test of the EGT Indication System.


 B. The operational test is done when each engine is in operation to make ú sure that the EGT indication system operates.
 (1)  Do the operational test after you replace the thermocouple cable.
 ú  C. The system test is done to make sure that the system precision is satisfactory.
 (1) You can use the system test with the system fault isolation.

 (a)  P6 Load Control Center
 1) ENG 1 EGT IND
 2) ENG 2 EGT IND

 3. System Test - EGT Indication System
___________________________________
 A. General
 (1)  
The accuracy test finds the errors in the EGT indication system from the airplane wiring resistance.

 (2)  
The correct insulation resistance of the circuit makes the accuracy of the EGT indication possible.


 (a)  The system components such as the thermocouple probe and the thermocouple cable are exposed to high temperature conditions during engine operation.
 (b) Moisture, carbon deposits and dirt on the thermocouple probe, ú leads and cable connectors can affect the EGT signal. ú ú NOTE:____If dirty mark noticed, clean the connectors with ú isopropyl alcohol CP1041 or stoddard solvent CP2011. ú
