G. Prepare the ARINC 429 Reader to Read the Fault History

(1) ARINC 429 READERS;
Do these steps to prepare the ARINC 429 reader to read and keep the
fault history.
NOTE: The steps to operate the ARINC 429 reader are for the JcAir
____ 429EB or 429EBP ARINC 429 reader. Steps to operate other models can be different. Refer to Table 201 for the bit data on label 301, fault history.
(a) Set the ON/OFF switch on the ARINC 429 reader to ON.
NOTE: The ARINC 429 reader will do a self-test when you supply
____ power. If the ARINC 429 reader operates correctly, SELF TEST OK will show for 2 seconds. The ARINC 429 reader will then show the labels that it receives.
(b)
Set the Rx Speed switch on the ARINC 429 reader to Lo.
(c)
Set the Display switch on the ARINC 429 reader to Eng.
(d)
Make sure the RX light comes on.
1) If the RX light does not come on, push the TX/RX key on the ARINC 429 reader until the RX light comes on.
(e)
Push the TRAP key on the ARINC 429 reader.
NOTE: When you put the ARINC 429 reader in the trap mode, it
____ will keep the data in the labels and bits that it reads.
1) ARINC 429EB READER; Push the TRAP key, once or twice, until the ARINC 429 reader shows LABEL?.
2) ARINC 429EBP READER; Push the TRAP key, once or twice, until the ARINC 429 reader shows TRAP LABEL? XXX.
(f) Push the D key on the ARINC 429 reader. 1) The ARINC 429 reader will show DATA ONLY for 1 second. 2) ARINC 429EB READER;
The ARINC 429 reader will show LABEL?_. 3) ARINC 429EBP READER;
The ARINC 429 reader will show TRAP LABEL?_. 4) Put 301 on the ARINC 429 reader. 5) Push the ENT key. 6) ARINC 429EB READER;
The ARINC 429 reader will show SDI?.
7) ARINC 429EB READER; Do these steps to set the ARINC 429 reader to get the fault history for the correct engine: a) For Engine 1,
Put 01 on the ARINC 429 reader.

b) For Engine 2, Put 10 on the ARINC 429 reader. c) For Engine 1 and 2, Do not put numbers on the ARINC 429 reader. d) Push the ENT key.
8) ARINC 429EBP READER; The ARINC 429 reader will show DATA ? XXXXXX. a) Push the ENT key. b) The ARINC 429 reader will show TRIG LABEL? XXX c) Push the ENT key. d) The ARINC 429 reader will again show DATA ? XXXXXX e) Push the ENT key.
H. Read the Fault History

(1) Read and keep the fault history with the ARINC 429 reader.
NOTE: These steps can be used for the ARINC 429EB and ARINC 429EBP
____
readers.
(a)
Do these steps if you use the Generic AVM test box: 1) Push the READ FAULT HISTORY button on the Generic AVM test box.
2) The AVM signal conditioner will send the fault messages on the applicable label to the ARINC 429 reader.
(b)
Do these steps if you do not use the Generic AVM test box: 1) Connect a jumper wire between the pin 23 and the pin 20 of
the connector on the AVM signal conditioner. 2) Remove the jumper wire after 5 seconds. 3) The AVM signal conditioner will send the fault messages on
