(e) Do these steps for each fault word:
1) Push the LAB/DAT key on the ARINC 429 reader to change to the data mode.
NOTE: The LAB/DAT key changes the ARINC 429 reader between
____ the label mode and the data mode. The ARINC 429 reader must be in the data mode to show the fault messages, the engine locations and the sequence of the fault. The ARINC 429 reader must be in the label mode to show the subsequent fault word.
2) Push the UP ARROW key or the DOWN ARROW key on the ARINC 429 reader until the fault sequence number, the engine location and the fault message shows.
3) Push the LAB/DAT key on the ARINC 429 reader to change to the label mode. 4) Push the UP ARROW key or the DOWN ARROW key on the ARINC 429 reader to show the subsequent fault word.

(2) Make a record of all the fault history messages and do the
corrective action, if it is necessary.
(a) If there are fault words, do the troubleshooting that shows for an AVM Indication Problem (AMM 71-00-54/101).

(3) Do these steps to erase the fault history from the AVM signal
conditioner, if it is necessary:
(a)
If you use the Generic AVM test box, push the ERASE FAULT HISTORY button.
(b)
Do these steps if you do not use the Generic AVM test box: 1) Connect a jumper wire between the pin 18 and pin 20 on the
AVM signal conditioner. 2) Remove the jumper wire after five seconds.
I. Prepare the ARINC 429 Reader to Read the Flight History

(1) ARINC 429 READERS;
Do these steps to prepare the ARINC 429 reader to read and keep the
flight history.
NOTE: The steps to operate the ARINC 429 reader are for the JcAir
____ 429EB or 429EBP ARINC 429 reader. The JcAir 429 reader is designed to decode some ARINC labels from the AVM signal conditioner.
(a) Other ARINC 429 readers can be used to read and keep the flight history data. 1) The steps to operate the other ARINC readers can be
different.

2) You must find the steps that are necessary to operate the other ARINC reader from its manufacturer. 3) The AVM signal conditioner will send 14 words for each of the 32 flights in the AVM storage memory.
4) Each word from Label 300 can be shown as a hexidecimal word. a) The hexidecimal word must be changed to a binary word
before you can use the bit table. b) When you change to a binary word, the bits that are shown (bit 32 through bit 9) are in reverse order.
5) Each word can be shown as a bit number that is ON or OFF. a) The bits that show will be bit 29 through bit 11. b) If the bit is ON, it is set as one. c) If the bit is OFF, it is set as zero. d) You must make a record of all the bits in the correct
order to use the bit table. 6) Refer to the Label 300 Flight History Bit Table to find the data.
(b) Set the ON/OFF switch on the ARINC 429 reader to ON.
NOTE: The ARINC 429 reader will do a self-test when you supply
____ power. If the ARINC 429 reader operates correctly, SELF TEST OK will show for 2 seconds. The ARINC 429 reader will then show the labels that it receives.
(c)
Set the Rx Speed switch on the ARINC 429 reader to Lo.
(d)
Set the Display switch on the ARINC 429 reader to Eng.
