 (a)  Use a fuse pin, bolt, end caps and washers.
 NOTE: If it is necessary, apply an up and down load of
____ 0-3000 pounds at the forward sling spreader bar (that attach to the bootstrap fitting (STA 194.24)) to install the pin.
 Put the countersunk washer below the bolt head (the bolt head is pointed to the wing tip).

 (b)  If you cannot install the diagonal brace with less than the load of 3000 pounds, you must make a brace from a blank brace as follows: 1) Apply an upward force of 1400-1600 pounds at the sling
 spreader bar at the strut bootstrap fittings (STA 194.24). 2) Measure the hole centers from the strut lower spar to the
 wing attach point. 3) Drill holes in the blank brace to match the distance above. 4) Ream the holes. 5) Install the bushing in the blank diagonal brace
 (CMM 54-50-01).
 6) Install the blank as shown above.

Tighten the mid spar fuse bolt nuts to 1000-1200 pound inches (113-136 Newton meters).

Make sure the washer is flat on the fuse bolt shoulder and the nut is flat on the washer.

 Install the bolt thru each of the mid spar fuse bolts.


 NOTE: Install the countersunk washer below the bolt head.

 Loosely install the washer and nut.

 Tighten the nuts to 150-350 pound-inches (17-40 Newton meters).

 (a)  
Install a cotter pin and apply sealant (BMS 5-79).

 (b)  
If it is necessary, loosen the nut a minimum quantity to install the cotter pin.

 (13) Tighten the nuts on the forward and aft attach points of the upper link to 150-350 pound-inches (17-40 Newton meters).
 (a)  
Install a new cotter pin and apply sealant (BMS 5-79).

 (b)  
If it is necessary, loosen the nut a minimum quantity to install the cotter pin.

 (14) Do these steps to tighten the side link assemblies:
 (a)  
Tighten the top nut on each side link assembly to 150-350 pound-inches (17-40 Newton meters).

 (b)  
Install the cotter pin and apply sealant (BMS 5-79 Class B).

 (c)  
Tighten the bottom nut on each side link assembly to
 630-1070 pound-inches (71-121 Newton meters).

 (15) Tighten the nuts at the two ends of the diagonal brace to 150-350 pound-inches (17-40 Newton meters).
 (a)  
Install a new cotter pin and apply sealant (BMS 5-79 Class B).

 (b)  
If it is necessary, loosen the nut a minimum quatity to install the cotter pin.

 Remove all the unwanted grease from all the attach points.

 Make sure the clearance between the strut structure and the wing attach fitting is not more than the limits (Fig. 401, Detail B).

 Install the aft fairing access panel at the diagonal brace.
